Like thousands of people yesterday, I was annoyed and inconvenienced by Gmail’s unexpected 2-hour dirtnap. But, wow. Apparently, it just irrevocably hijacked the whole day for some folks. And even sent a few into a Dark Afternoon of the Soul that most 19th-century Romantic poets would have found a bit histrionic. Now, as a user, polemicist, and nemesis of Apple’s MobileMe problems, I’m not here to criticize the frustration about a broken cloud service; I ...Shared by adam king / sabbatical™ (8) AJ (154) Alec Peden (6) Andrew (0) Ben (8) Bill (2) btvillarin (5) Chris Miller (1) Christopher Gillespie (4) Chuqui (5) Corvida (60) Craig Maloney (3) d0t (4) daliu (1) danliebke (47) Darkwookiee (1) Dave Arter (9) DavidS (23) EJ (9) Firethorn (11) Floyd (3) hank (2) Jack Baty (4) Jay (44) jbrauer (1) Jennifer Sardam (3) Jeroen (1) kevin (0) kfc (6) mcphee (5) Michael Nally (3) Mike (0) Mitch (1) Mitch (0) Nathan (0) Nick (0) Paul Jacobson (14) Pete Williams (0) Peter (2) peteresch (2) pflix (1) pilgrimjohn (2) powlow (15) q burns abstract message (4) ravi (12) Roberto (3) Ross (4) Scott (5) terrym (9) Theresa Irwin (0) ThinkHammer (0) Todd (2) Todd Mundt (50) True Tech Life (0) vergil66 (1) xgdfalcon (1)Explore read seven notes- Christopher Gillespie said: Merlin Mann gives a great synopsis of the Getting Things Done scheme. As much as I respect Apple, Unslow, one of their new iPhone 3G television ads, has me wondering how they kept a straight face when they put this on the air. Agile Project Planning (9)

Projects are a necessary evil :-) But necessary they are. Some people really feel the need to understand precisely what the project will cost and exactly long it will take. If this is the basis for investment, of course that's a completely understandable feeling. For years, traditional waterfall projects have been sold on the false pretense that projects are predictable. Plannable. Of course the reality is, projects are highly unpredictable, and - sadly - that's why so ...Shared by Bijou (12) BluesForPablo (18) John H (6) Kurt (0) Lenny (9) Les (5) Martin Hall (13) Matt (3) Nathan (0)Contribute comment -

How Image-to-Text Could Be Used in Google Street View (19)

Google Street View’s photo data could be used for more than just plain showing it to users. Internally, Google could do some image analysis – like OCR, optical character recognition, to convert text contained in the images of the houses, shops and so on to text. Such text could be utilized for several things: Google could be able to make the streets searchable through a normal text input box. Oh happy day — the new Delicious is here In the years since del.icio.us was acquired by Yahoo! it’s been hard to get why it remained such a red-headed stepchild.
