Demos below! As a sort-of reverse birthday present I've decided to release one of my largest projects, in recent memory. This is the project that I've been alluding to for quite some time now: I've ported the Processing visualization language to JavaScript, using the Canvas element. I've been working on this project, off-and-on now, for the past 7 months - it's been a fun, and quite rewarding, challenge. The full scope of the project can ...Shared by Adam (15) Bhasker V Kode (18) Brian Pitts (0) Chris van de Steeg (19) dcw303 (17) james (7) kates (8) Kenji Kato (2) Nessy (13) NiKo (18) Roman Nurik (0) Ryan Joseph (38) Sean Carmody (2) Silvan T. Study Hints At Time Before Big Bang (1)

Slashdot (2957) permalink
canadian_right informs us that scientists from Caltech have found hints of a time before the Big Bang while studying the cosmic microwave background. Not only does the study hint at something pre-existing our universe, the researchers also postulate that everything we see was created as a bubble pinched off from a previously existing universe. This conjecture turns out to shed light on the mystery of the arrow of time. Quoting the BBC's account: "Their model ...Shared by dcw303 (17)Contribute comment -

Remember Ben Charny, the Wall Street Journal reporter who back in February wrote this ill-informed story regarding the iPhone and Adobe’s Flash? He’s got another doozy: Just how will Apple meet expectations? Using the patent application as a guide, Apple appears to be making room on the iPhone for flash memory, which means an end to Apple’s standoff with Adobe that’s kept iPhones from easily viewing a plethora of Internet videos. Apple has said that ...Shared by Brett (18) dcw303 (17)Contribute comment -

CWmike writes "Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols puts his thumb on what really happened to spur Microsoft's change of mind on sparing Windows XP: The smashing success of Asus and others' Linux-powered UMPCs and mini-notebooks caught Microsoft completely by surprise. It turned out people wanted inexpensive, hard-working Linux laptops rather than overpriced, underpowered Vista PCs. If anyone thought this was a flash in the pan, that Asus just hit it lucky once, they haven't been paying attention. ...Shared by dcw303 (17)Contribute comment -

Although I rather like Windows Vista -- I think the amount of Vista nerd rage out there is completely unwarranted -- there are areas of Vista I find hugely disappointing. Announcing Open Signups, Expected Pricing, and two new APIs (3)

Since then, even though we've since expanded to 75,000 developers, the request we've heard most often has been to open up the preview release and give more people the chance to use it to deploy their apps to Google's scalable infrastructure.
