And What Would Happen If Commercial Aviation Was Simply Impossible To Do Profitably? (11)
on Techdirt (2215) permalinkI tend to be something of an innovation optimist, believing that most resource constraint problems are eventually solved through ingenuity and innovation, but there can be some hiccups in the process along the way. Here's an article looking at the airline industry, and trying to spin some scenarios of what would happen if it simply turns out that the commercial airline business is completely unsupportable. Obviously, with fuel costs so high, it's become more and ...Shared by abrudtkuhl (130) AJ (28) Christopher Gizzi (176) darkeye11547 (1094) Greg (35) jproffitt (81) Mitch Wagner (97) Nick (306) Raj (42) Ross (85) TiTi (399)Contribute comment

Why Entrepreneurs Love a Downturn (4)
on HarvardBusiness.org (442) permalinkDuring our interviews with 55 successful business and social entrepreneurs worldwide, we were struck by the fact that many had started their enterprises during a recession or in the wake of one. Prominent examples include Clif Bar, Chipotle, and Hanna Andersson. Several others started their companies (including Cranium and Honest Tea) just before a recession. Many people assume that entrepreneurs are allergic to recessions. It turns out that downturns can be times of tremendous opportunity--and, ...
