Scaling Lesson #23742 (5)
on The GitHub Blog (34) permalinkGitHub was created as a side project, but it seems to have struck a nerve and gained traction quickly. As such, a lot of the infrastructure decisions were made not figuring on this sort of growth: One of the major pieces of the infrastructure is how we store the repositories. The way it was originally setup worked great for a while, but it wasn’t sustainable. As an example, lets take my github-services repository. Here’s where ...Contribute comment

Ninjia and Guitar Hero (10)
on Engadget (8143) permalinkFiled under: Gaming Good news, plastic rockers -- Activision announced at E3 today that its upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour game will work with Rock Band's controllers, including the drumkit, and that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on Xbox 360 has received an update that "should" make the game compatible with Harmonix's axes. Nothing too wild on the Aerosmith tip, as the guitars should just work now (finally!), but Activision's had to do some work to make ...Shared by Adam (167) Benjamin Golub (129) Clay (50) DeadRinga (182) iomegadrive (65) James (43) Kevin (69) Nathan (27) Nick (42) WhisKiTo (102)

The egg stays open from 6:00AM till 10:30AM, to indicate the availability of fresh eggs during that time. Once the breakfast ...Shared by Benjamin Golub (129) Brandon (76)Contribute comment

Our Googley advice to students: Major in learning (123)
on The Official Google Blog (1307) permalinkManagement guru Peter Drucker noted that companies attracting the best knowledge workers will "secure the single biggest factor for competitive advantage." We and other forward-looking companies put a lot of effort into hiring such people. What are we looking for?At the highest level, we are looking for non-routine problem-solving skills. We expect applicants to be able to solve routine problems as a matter of course. After all, that's what most education is concerned with. Nintendo announces the Wii MotionPlus at E3 (15)

The device, which attaches to the rear of the controller, will be used to tighten up and refine motion sensing on the Wii, and its tweaks will be levied in a new game that the accessory comes paired with called Wii Sports Resort. iPod Touch As An Apple TV Remote? Cooler Than I Thought. (20)
on louisgray.com (914) permalinkWhen Apple's iTunes application store opened up last week, I, at first, skipped over the free Remote application that offered the option to manage iTunes or the Apple TV from your iPhone or iPod Touch. It just seemed stupid at worst, or a proof of concept at best. Why would I want to duplicate the Apple Remote's capabilities with a much more functional device, I thought? Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus add-on makes the Wii Remote a true 1:1 motion controller (48)
on Engadget (8143) permalinkFiled under: Gaming, Peripherals While we saw it hinted at in patents, Nintendo is springing quite the doozy on us at E3 in the form of its new Wii MotionPlus add-on. Perhaps in a preemptive strike against supposed Wiimote competition from the likes of Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo is beefing up its motion support with this add-on, which is supposed to proved "an unmatched level of precision and immersion," with sensors to supplement the accelerometer ...
