Japanese author/translator Hiroko Yoda was having trouble signing up for a Facebook account. Every time she tried registering with her real full name, she got an error message. She suspected that it might be because of her last name was Yoda, so she tried spelling it slightly differently—Youda, Yohda, Yooda. No problem at all. When she e-mailed FB explaining her situation, she got this reply: Facebook blocks the registration of a number of names that ...Shared by (jeff)isageek (6) Adam Selwood (3) darkeye11547 (162) GioStam (1) Herbal Lemon (3) hibiscusroto (22) Jaume (0) jimi bandrix (162) lnxcwby (1) Luis Penados (9) marcosvicente2005 (24) Masafumi Otsune (71) Matthew (53) Melissa (1) Mike B (14) otsune (66) puthali (16) Robin Wauters (0) shahryarrakeen (4) Syng Shin (20) Tatsuhiko Miyagawa (81)- Mike B said: The trials of being a jedi master...

Chad laments that we don’t hear that much about the decathlon any more, because Americans aren’t really competitive. I also think it’s a shame, because any sport in which your score can be a complex number deserves more attention. Yes, it’s true. The decathlon combines ten different track and field events, so to come up with a final score we need some way to tally up all of the individual scores so that each event ...Shared by Argos (18) astroprof (0) B.M.
