Tassilo Horn: tsdh (3)
on Planet Emacsen (66) permalinkI have my emacs running as server and two small wrapper scripts ec and et which connect to it with emacsclient (either creating a new frame or opening a terminal frame). Because I want to do all my system administration (editing files in /etc/) with emacs and don’t want to start another emacs instance as root, I use TRAMP to switch to superuser mode automagically if the opened file is read-only. Here’s the code: (defun ...Contribute comment

Millennials Are Taking Over the Workplace - Is HR Prepared? (6)
on Personal Branding Blog - Dan Schawbel (132) permalinkI told everyone on Twitter last night that I would not be blogging today, but I had a slight change of heart. I got my interview questions from Lisa Orrell back just in time to post them and have content readily available to you. Lisa is also announcing her new MySpace blog for HR Execs and managers. Lisa is very well in-tune with the “millennial tribe” and how we are changing the workplace. Some 2008 Enterprise 2.0 Success Stories - Tell Me More (8)
on The FASTForward Blog (153) permalinkA while back I posted a number of Enterprise 2.0 success stories for 2007 on the AppGap blog. They came from this blog and my Portals and KM blog. Now, I am starting to collect stories from 2008. Recently, after an exchange of emails I got this list from Justin Kistner of Voce Communications, a communications consultancy that creates marketing programs for their clients. Random Sample: Speck - an alternative to Flyspell (1)
on Planet Emacsen (66) permalinkSpeck is a minor mode for on-the-fly spell checking, just like Flyspell. I have tested it now for two weeks and I guess I'll stick with it. What I never really liked about Flyspell was that it felt somehow sluggish, since it immediately checks every typed word. Additionally, if I was working with a rather big text file, I had to call flyspell-region repeatedly to check the currently visible text, since flyspell-buffer would just take ...Shared by Sacha Chua (22)Contribute comment

35+++ Examples of Corporate Social Media in Action from Mashable (1)
on The FASTForward Blog (153) permalinkAaron Uhrmacher recently posted 35+ Examples of Corporate Social Media in Action on the Mashable blog. Some are well known and others are new to me, at least. I was impressed by the variety of social media used and approaches taken. Most of the examples are customer facing but not all. There were a lot of blogs but also Facebook, Twitter, del.icio.us, community sites, YouTube, Second Life, Flickr, wikis, MySpace, and Lively (Google’s virtual world). ...Shared by Sacha Chua (22)Contribute comment

Minimalist Fitness: How to Get In Lean Shape With Little or No Equipment (107)
