Filed under: Laptops Well, maybe -- we're not calling it official until Steve pulls the cloth off himself tomorrow morning . Still, there's no denying the similarities between this image and all those other case leaks we've seen, and the list of specs we've been given matches up as well -- that "metal and glass" enclosure now houses an NVIDIA GPU, but no FireWire 400, and video-out is apparently through a connector "more compact" than ...

RjDj, a new iPhone application that was released earlier this week, is one of the coolest things I’ve seen released on the still fledgling platform. Download it now, if only to try it for a few minutes. You can download the full version for $2.99 here, or you can try out the free version (which only has one ’scene’). The application is difficult to describe and on paper it sounds sort of silly (see the ...

Filed under: Cellphones T-Mobile sold right out of its original allotment of G1 pre-orders quick, fast and in a hurry, and even the second round has been claimed in a flash. What's it all mean? It means that someone at T-Mobile and Google are sitting in a fancy restaurant in France sipping on the good stuff, and it also means that 1.5 million G1s have already been reserved for eager early adopters. In addition to ...

Last week on CalTrain, I saw a woman using one of these. It had serial numbers printed along the base of the front; it was obviously one of a handful being tracked. I happened to be sitting behind her, so I got a really good look at it. It seemed a little crashy, but the game she ended up playing looked fun.

Since the launch of the iPhone App Store, we’ve seen a wave of geo-aware social networks that make use of the phone’s GPS (or in the case of the original iPhone, pseudo-GPS). Each of these apps aims to help facilitate social interaction by locating nearby friends, points of interest, or people you might be interested in meeting (but might not know yet). There’s little doubt that some incarnation of one of these apps will help ...

A startup, by (loose) definition, is a young company heading into uncharted territory. And, by that very definition, it needs funds to operate; these usually come in the form of investments from venture capital companies or angel investors willing to accept significantly higher risk for their investments, which occasionally yields higher rewards. As you can all see by looking at the headlines of finance sites and stock market charts, the definition of “risk” has changed ...

Hugh Hefner has already found replacements for Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson. His two new ladies are twin sisters Karissa and Kristina Shannon (pictured on each side of Hugh.) But it turns out these two have a history of beating the living crap out of people and are BOTH on probation for a bar brawl in January, according to E! News: The sisters were arrested in the early morning hours of Jan. 10 and booked ...

Yup, Google (who own YouTube) want some more money. They've today announced a new feature to be implemented on YouTube that will let you buy games. And proper, real games to boot. They'll be rolling out Amazon buttons underneath certain game videos. Like, you watch a Spore trailer on YouTube, and if you like the cut of its gib, you can buy it straight away. Ah, modern commerce. Gotta love it, no? YouTube to sell ...

I’m trying to to come up with a decent way to introduce this - there really isn’t a sane way to approach this because the latest feature from Flickr, while fairly mundane in function, is borderline insane. The service allows you to see new images as they come into the site and have been popularly rated as interesting (those on the FriendFeed night shift shouldn’t confuse this functionality with Tad’s Flickr Toy that shows the ...

As I noted (to much derision from the peanut gallery) back in August, Tina Fey bears a striking resemblance to Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. It seemed like an innocuous observation to me - they both looked pretty similar to me. Vindication from comments like “you are trashing the site with the political drivel” came several weeks later when Tina Fey appeared on Saturday Night Live impersonating the political candidate. The skit was subject to ...

Condoms. Seriously, that’s what the Boingz look like: jelly-filled condoms. I’m not sure that’s what Ninja Bee had in mind when they came up with the 2D puzzle platformer for WiiWare. I can tell that the game has more in common with Lemmings or LocoRoco than it does with the contraceptive aisle in a pharmacy. But I can’t help but think as I grasp the reservoir tip antenna of the little green, blue, red, and ...

I'm not advocating smoking or illicit substances, but instead I'm praising the ingenuity of the creator of this bong. It would have been so easy just to chuck his old NES controller. But no, he refused to waste resources and by dint of some hose and and a drill her created a workable bong. Sadly the controller has now ceased to work, but hey, we now have a new product.
