Examining the Medical Blogosphere: An Online Survey of Medical Bloggers (1)
on
Journal of Medical Internet Research (2) permalink
Background: Blogs are the major contributors to the large increase of new websites created each year. Most blogs allow readers to leave comments and, in this way, generate both conversation and encourage collaboration. Despite their popularity, however, little is known about blogs or their creators. Objectives: To contribute to a better understanding of the medical blogosphere by investigating the characteristics of medical bloggers and their blogs, including bloggers’ Internet and blogging habits, their motivations for ...Shared by Rebecca (9)Contribute comment -

I've added "Search PubMed" to my Ubiquity commands. It's a rewrite of Thomas Lemberger's earlier command, making use of the JSON response from my Yahoo Pipe. Note: the command requires a version of Ubiquity which hasn't been released yet, as it uses Utils.setTimeout and Utils.clearTimeout to introduce a 1 second delay, reducing the number of calls made to the Yahoo/PubMed web services. You can get the most recent source from the Ubiquity Mercurial repository: hg ...Shared by Pedro Beltrao (20) Rebecca (9)Contribute comment -

Are Linux Programmers Getting Too Fat? (90)

We generally frown on companies showing slides during a TechCrunch50 demo. But FitBit (which demoed its health activity monitoring device live as well) put up this slide to underscore its point that obesity is a growing problem. The slide shows how the distribution of T-shirt sizes at the Linux Symposium has shifted towards the XL and XXL side of the scale. I’m convinced. Linux programmers need FitBit.
