A combination of frequency and recency of visits, the Mozilla developers call the "AwesomeBar"'s suggestion algorithm "frecency"—but it's not set in stone or hidden away somewhere. In fact, the weight of each attribute is set inside your Firefox's about:config area. on Lifehacker (34010) permalinkMac users who like to keep their workspace free of shortcuts and folders will love this "oh, duh!" tip for removing your hard drive from the Desktop. In Finder's Preferences pane, in the General tab, uncheck "Hard disks" under "Show these items on the Desktop" to clear away the icon. (You can do the same for external or optical disks and network servers, too.) on Daring Fireball (3440) permalinkOne thing that stinks about Apple TV is the on-screen keyboard. You don’t need to type often, but when you do — like for searching YouTube, or entering a Wi-Fi password — you get a crummy on-screen keyboard (ABCDEF rather than QWERTY) that you have to navigate using the up/down/left/right buttons on the little remote. But it ends up Apple’s new Remote app for the iPhone solves this. The simplest way to do this is to place elements in a table or by fixing width of labels. Tables stretch its cells according to width of largest element in a column.
