Using jQuery for Background Image Animations - Snook.ca (33)

Snook.ca (30) permalink
After reading Dave Shea's article on CSS Sprites using jQuery to produce animation effects, I felt like playing around with things to see what could be done but accomplish it with a simpler HTML structure (no need for adding superfluous tags) and simpler code, too. Changing the position of the background image felt to be the best approach to creating the type of effect we're looking for (and I'm not the first to think so: ...Shared by Adam (3) Alexander Feil (6) Chris Rowe (4) cinefilo (16) David (3) DesignerBrent (17) dingyi (34) Eli (43) Fábio Cerqueira (1) Fatih Hayri (5) Hagure Metaru (34) ibanez182 (17) jarred (24) jay kim (1) Jeremy Flint (19) Jiri (4) Joel Lee (1) kiirpi (11) Marsha (6) Mathias Wiberg (1) matiasjajaja (10) Milan Zoufal (0) Nate Koechley (14) Nick Cairns (5) Norman Dwyer (12) Paul Giacherio (0) Quinn (0) Shane (5) Sid (9) Vashira (19) Warren (17) Yann Esposito (0) zoby (20)- Vashira said: brilliant!

Will Font Embedding Ever Become A Reality? (5)

CSS-Tricks (85) permalink
I have to admit I don’t have my head fully wrapped around this whole font-embedding controversy. At it’s root, it comes from us web designers being frustrated by the lack of options font options for our web pages. We want more, the “core 10″ are just too limiting. Ideally, we’d like to use any font we want without resorting to alternative methods like sIFR, FLIR, or simply just using images. This where the @font-face CSS ...Contribute comment - jQuery.ScrollTo (1)

Coding animated selection tools and text effects can be a nice but time consuming task. Why reinvent the wheel? JQuery is a library of code which sits on top of JavaScript to quickly and easily insert useful functions into your web site.

WordPress 2.7, (Tentatively) scheduled for a November release looks like it is going to blow the pants off of us. Recently, I took the opportunity to download a developmental version of 2.7 and although it is very early in development, I really like what I've seen thus far. Some highlights worth noting: The developmental version of WordPress 2.7 should not be used on a live blog as it is not considered stable. Alright, I’ve got another conspiracy theory misconception to dispel. After reading through the Chrome Terms of Service, some people are worried that Google is trying to assert rights on everything that you do on Chrome.
