Remember when Amy Winehouse went to the hospital in July for a "reaction to her anti-drug medication"? Turns out Amy really smoked her face off for 36 hours straight which leads doctors to believe she's now permanently brain damaged. The Sun: MEDICS are worried Amy’s brain was damaged by the cannabis overdose – she displayed symptoms normally associated with schizophrenia. The pal yesterday said: “The future is bleak, bleak, bleak. Mitch does everything he can ...

The Gun O'Clock is similar in design to this alarm, and puts a new spin on the "annoying as all hell" alarm clock market. When the "Pi Pi Pi Pi Pi Pi Pi" alarm sounds, a target pops up and you have to shoot the bullseye enough times to stop the noise and reset the target. The $40 alarm is currently available for preorder and is sure to make getting up a lot more shooty. ...

In April 2007, shortly after I first met with Zack Snyder and started design work on Watchmen, we received a mysterious call at our Warner Bros. offices from a location scout in New York. He's found a house he thinks we need to see, and there's only a short time to see it before it's going to be demolished. The next day we fly to NY, taking the cab directly to a brownstone street in ...

Comic-Con was great this year. Thanks to everyone who attended the Watchmen panel or stopped by the booth to say hello. It was great having the chance to show a little additional footage and hear what you all had to say. Here are hi-res versions of the limited edition Comic-Con posters. -Zack

Filed under: Transportation While it's not quite the feat that an actual Wiimote-paddled canoe would be (or nearly as silly), this nunchuck-steered contraption is still pretty impressive in its own right, and quite the change in pace from the usual Wiimote-controlled robots. At the heart of the rig is the always-useful Arduino platform, which employs some custom software to control the two electric motors powered by a pair of golf cart batteries, along with some ...

Who would have thought Beer for My Horses would prove itself the better vigilante justice movie of the year? I watch probably a dozen shitty trailers every week, but this is the first time I've ever felt actual embarrassment for everyone involved, including myself for watching (and, even worse, listening). How do you make a movie seem like a straight-to-DVD version of itself, probably called The Disciplinarian? Answer below the cut.

Okay, Warner Bros, I'm willing to grant you that Zach Snyder's heart is in the right place with his movie adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen. After all, he's gone on record multiple times about his respect for the original comic, and his desire to stay true to the spirit of that series. But the newly-announced video game tie-in to the movie that calls itself an "action brawler" and introduces new characters to ...

Sure, you've seen the sweet footage of the outside of Nite Owl's garage-made submersible ship in previews for Watchmen. But today, io9 takes you inside the Owlship. From the floor at Comic-Con, where all 800 pounds of the ship sat behind velvet ropes, we got a long, loving look inside the steampunky, industrial ship. In this video, you see the cool walls, seats, computer displays, and (of course) the two owl-eye front windows. This is ...

You can tell a lot about a science fiction book from its first sentence. Those first few words (or few dozen, in some cases) have to pull you into the story and bring you into a whole alternate world. A good first sentence "hooks" you, pulling you into the story with a quick jolt of action and mystery. But a great first sentence does way more than that — it establishes a tone, it sticks ...
