solar tax credits extended Well we can argue till the cows come home about whether the financial crisis bailout bill is going to work or if it is good for America but one thing is for sure the solar power industry is doing a dance today. Included in the bill that passed the Senate the other day and went before the House today, where it passed, was a rider that includes an extension of the ...

Do you notice anything odd about this dartboard seen in an East London pub recently? Most darts boards look a bit like this, but different. How on earth would you ever end a game of 301 on such a dart board? Posted by Andy Roberts What's odd about this Dartboard? Found in an East London Pub

perhaps not as unusual a dartboard as I thought?

Real Perry with Abel & Cole Organic Boxes Real perry is such a treat but notoriously difficult to find so it’s fantastic that you can get perry delivered with organic boxes. That’s right, Abel and Cole one of the larger delivery schemes for organic boxes can also supply cases of Dunkertons Perry, in quantities of six times 500ml bottles to customers of their organic vegetable boxes. I’ve tried this arrangement and it works very well, ...

Theatre Breaks not for cutbacks Having avoided traditional summer holidays the past two years, preferring to go abroad in the off seasons, I certainly won’t be cutting back on theatre breaks and other little weekends away or short breaks in the UK. Neither will hoards of other people up and down the country regardless of what the doom and gloom mongers would have us believe. Some might be thinking twice about booking long haul trips ...

A couple of things caught my eye this weekend. Umair Haque - How to Build a Next-Gen Business Now. Joi Ito - Obsolete Financial Services Both are quite exciting (though Umair's at times feels a tad portentous) at a time when so many very highly rewarded financial gurus seem to be coming completely unstuck. We're entering a very turbulent period and I'm not sure how things will fall out, but I think a hyperlinked world ...

66/365 - 9/26/2008, originally uploaded by snelly23. I couldn’t resist this great quick display for Autumn! The maker says: I was looking for real fall leaves to photograph on Monday, the first day of fall, and I failed. Our class used “glue paint” over and under tissue squares on construction paper to make these shiny fall leaves. I love the tree with its ‘glue paint’ leaves and it’s wonderful affirmative messages. I’d love to add ...

James Crowden, has written a new book called Ciderland which documents the history of cider making and claims that the credit for inventing Champagne should really go to Christopher Merret, a West Country scientist who outlined his method of making sparkling wine in a paper to the Royal Society in 1632, six years before Dom Pérignon was born. The Times reports The English connection will be spelt out next week by Mr Crowden in a ...

Come Dancing is a new musical by Ray Davies of the Kinks. Come Dancing reviews We really enjoyed our evening at Come Dancing, the new Ray Davies musical, at the Theatre Royal Stratford East on Friday. I thought the show was perfect for the theatre and for the Stratford audience. I can’t really give a fair Come Dancing review, as it was still in preview, so these are just my impressions. The Come Dancing Set ...

Sea Eagles Release Programme Various attempts have been made over the years, some successful, to reintroduce wildlife species into areas where they have become extinct in the past. The ospreys in England are one well known example, and a similar scheme is currently underway to reintroduce sea eagles into Scotland. This season is the second in a five year plan to release young sea eagles taken as chicks from Norway and already there are some ...

I'm pleasantly surprised (amazed, actually) that our politicians have shown more common sense on this issue than any other government:SYDNEY scientists have been given approval to attempt a world first in medical research. Researchers at fertility company Sydney IVF were yesterday issued with Australia's first licence to produce cloned human embryos.By extracting stem cells from the cloned embryos, they hope to gain unprecedented insights into how crippling conditions including muscular dystrophy and Huntington's disease develop, ...

It’s that time of year again when thousands of people in the Northern hemisphere are looking at all those apples ripening on the trees soon to fall and starting to think….hmmmm what a shame if they should go to waste again. So hundreds of people every day go onto the internet and look up “homemade cider presses“, “Plans for making a cider press“, “do it yourself apple crusher” and similar phrases. Many of them have ...

Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat Most of us remember the musical “Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat” from a school performance, either as proud parents or as young performers ourselves! In my case, both - but the earlier memories are somewhat faded from the 1960s. The show was originally written as a ‘hip’ musical that schools would enjoy producing and if your memories are good ones then you’ll really want to see the full West End ...
