In tough USA Today interview, the former POTUS says McCain is “milking every possible drop of advantage” from his years in Hanoi. Also accuses him of succumbing to “every kind of lobbyist pressure that the right wing Republicans have presented to him,” and says Lieberman has abandoned fellow Democrats. Carter is in Denver for Obama’s acceptance speech.

The net's most infamous document-leaking site has thousands of e-mails about the Venezuelan government, but this time, the site isn't publishing them for the world to see. Instead, they are being auctioned -- an experiment that's raising ethical questions.

“Wait a sec,” the Edutron Systems rep interrupted, cutting off the principal of River City High, “your students still use pencils and paper to take exams!?” The rep insincerely chuckled, adding “don’t tell me you’re still using slide rules to teach arithmetic!” As shifty as the sales rep was, he did have a good point. It was 1993, after all, and the information superhighway was on the verge of explosive growth. If the principal knew ...

There's a huge security problem in the latest iPhone 2.0.2: if you have your JesusPhone password protected, using a very simple trick gives anyone full access to your cellphone private information in Mail, SMS, Contacts, and even Safari. The two-step trick is even simpler to the one used in the past to gain access to the phone to install unlocking cards or jailbreak. Fortunately, there's a way to avoid this obvious security breach until Apple ...

Photo: jimray [Flickr] Apparently some people store their valuables inside the oven for safekeeping when they’re away. The downside of this method is that sometimes they forgot all about ‘em … Here’s the story from Flickr user jimray: My buddy Kidd left his laptop in his oven while away - you know, in case of break-in or fire, it’d be safe. We’re all over after grabbing him from the airport, ready to bake some cookies. ...

And apparently you all want "cakes" with more sole.Honestly, I've been e-mailed this so often I'm getting a haddock, and I'm starting to think there's something fishy going on here. Did the cake's non-baker shellfishly do this on porpoise? I'm not hard of herring, you know; I just couldn't fathom why you all would want a sushi "cake" on Wrecks. But then I figured, hey, I'm just being crabby - why not post the photo? You ...

Photo by ranajune. Steve Jobs is still parking in handicapped spaces at Apple, according to a new snap posted to Flickr. Snapper Rana Sobhany spotted Jobs’ Mercedes SL55 AMG parked in a handicapped spot at the Apple campus over the weekend. “Mercedes? Check. No license plate? Check. Handicap spot? Yep, this is Steve Jobs’ car!!!” she writes. Jobs, of course, has a long history of parking in handicapped parking spaces at Apple. The reports go ...

Last weekend, I was one of the guests of honor at 3PiCon in Springfield, MA, along with Randall "XKCD" Munroe, who once infamously depicted me as blogging from a hot-air balloon in cape and goggles. This has become a motif for me, so that wherever I go, people give me capes and/or goggles. I brought along a set and wore them to our final panel together on Sunday, and Dan Noe, the Pi-Con photographer, got ...
