Save Money And Stay Cooler with a Whole-House Fan [Summer Hacks] (33)
on Lifehacker (36899) permalinkHandyman columnist James Dulley explains the benefits of a whole-house fan as a way to save money on summer cooling costs. A whole-house fan is a large fan you install in the ceiling of the uppermost floor of your home. When turned on the fan draws a enormous amount of air up and out of your home. In short, a whole-house fan is the super-charged version of opening the windows at night to let the ...Shared by adang001 (73) benh (142) Brett (24) Cameron Hatfield (38) Chad (415) Daryl (38) Denny (58) deusdiabolus (447) Dre (41) G4dz00k5 (46) Garrett (45) Geoff Thomsen (69) Gonzo (92) IanMcKenzie (29) Jason (20) JeDa (72) Jeff Crump (101) Jon (56) Kells Nollenberger (21) Kevin Branigan (58) Linden (66) Mike T (40) Nathan (200) rOckY (716) Roger (81) Ryan (60) Sam (97) shawnmor (134) Shinn Photography (23) tarman (186) Tim (183) xabbott (66) Zaki (217)Explore read four notes
- Denny said: We installed a whole house fan three years ago, and it has been wonderful.
- Garrett said: This is a great idea. It takes a long time for the upstairs of my place to cool off compared to the first floor. Pulling that cooler air up and pushing the hot air out would entice me to use the AC less.
- Dre said: We had one of these in an older house in Cerritos and it worked great. We never got one installed in Palmdale because temps easily reach 100 in the summer and freezing in the winter... and my dad was too lazy... and it's quite noisy.
- Chad said: My dad has one of these, which works so well he's never bothered getting central air.

Quick Media Converter Converts Audio or Video to Any Format [Featured Windows Download] (136)

I rented Zelda from Blockbuster to install it (f'n $8 for a 5-day rental). By far my favorite Wiibrew app is FCE Ultra, the classic NES emulator. The Wiimote works great for it since the system only had two buttons. It's really nice to have the SD available for installing new Wii homebrew (like the DVD player) as it comes along.
