We have all seen campaigns that knock competition - it could either be factual comparison or innuendo. And when it directly names the competing brand, it really stands out. But this is a first for me - an advertising agency taking on a competing agency. Karsh/Hagan, Denver based agency has 'taken on' Crispin Porter + Bogusky in a campaign. The background: Crispin gave up a small running shoes & apparel brand called Pearl Izumi, when ...

This somewhat tongue-in-cheek instant “Twitter Agency” concept (click the link for backstory) is fascinating to me, because once you remove the elements of putting it all together in an hour’s time, I’m convinced that the virtual creative agency is a wave of the future. The model can allow for amazing flexibility, load-balancing, best-of-breed resourcing for specific projects, and assembly of talent without regard for geography. What with the Age of Conversation crowd-written books, and other ...

Most business cards are dull, boring, and don’t say much about the person. These business cards tend to be forgotten, which is why then are ineffective. Here are 51 business cards that say a lot about the person: What shows that you love giving more than a ribbon. Red liquid inside a card is a good way to make it seem bloody. We all love free apps. MakeUseOf is all about free apps! Why pay for certain applications when you can get another which works almost (or just) as well for free? While there are a few applications which have no free counterparts, you can most definitely find a majority of others which carry one or several alternatives that performs about the same tasks; and it won’t burn a hole in your pocket! Today's news about the fall of Lehman Brothers, Bank of America's planned rescue of Merrill Lynch and insurer AIG's debt problems isn't going to have any immediate affect on online ad spending, though residual impact could eventually cause advertisers to pullback somewhat. But for the moment, online ad expenditures are expected to remain stable, since the industry has already been bracing itself for a wider economic retrenchment that started in earnest last year when the ...

Google may take its battle for global domination to the high seas with the launch of its own “computer navy”. The company is considering deploying the supercomputers necessary to operate its internet search engines on barges anchored up to seven miles (11km) offshore. The “water-based data centres” would use wave energy to power and cool their computers, reducing Google’s costs. Their offshore status would also mean the company would no longer have to pay property ...

I was wondering how Muxtape was getting away with their style. I guess they weren't! I liked what the site offered, as I was introduced to a new artist through a link to its page on Muxtape. Ended up purchasing several songs on Amazon MP3, too. Still, if they didn't get permission, they were bound to get shut down eventually.
