I would like to publically declare my love for Full Throttle. Something very strange happened with history and opinion on that game - it was well received by critics, it was completely fantastic, it was Tim Schafer’s most mature writing (three years before Grim Fandango). And then somehow it became the black sheep of LucasArts’ output, condemned by false memories of being too short, and having awful arcade sequences throughout. Which just isn’t true! Certainly ...

The end of summer vacation season is a good time to take up the hunt for a new, better job, as hiring managers can look at firm schedules and determine what shortfalls need filling. Today and through the rest of this week, we'll be taking a look at tips for finding, interviewing for, negotiating over, and succeeding in a new gig. First off is making inconvenient, low-tech job listing sites—the kind without RSS feeds, email ...

Paris! Tahiti! Rio de Janeiro! These are some of the exciting destinations Americans aren’t visiting anymore, because we’re all broke. Forget jet-setting to exotic locales around the globe – nowadays, we’re lucky if we can keep the tank full all the way to the nearest Six Flags. With a sigh of resignation, Americans across America are throwing up their hands and seeking out the delights to be found closer to home, from Pascagoula to Parsippany. ...

So what does one do with thousands of bicycles? Igor Kenk’s bizarre and record-setting collection has sparked myriad theories, ranging from the obvious: that he was planning to resell them all eventually in his used bicycle shop, to the eccentric: that he was saving them to sell as scrap metal or storing them for the upcoming energy apocalypse.

So when I saw the Joker’s Fatality (and yes, it appears that DC Villains will be able to perform Fatalities) I almost shit my pants. If you are one of the many gamers out there who vowed they would never buy a Teen Rated Mortal Kombat game, you may want to check this clip out before you utter another word.

Hi Wooters. Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. I wanted to get this update out during the week but time ran short and I want it up by Monday.. Back on the 14th, I started a discussion about Extended Warranties and asked what’s your take. I started off the thread expressing that while I’m still personally not keen on extended warranty purchase, I was starting to loosen up on the subject for specific cases. We ...

Why haven't we met aliens yet? And why aren't we sending rockets all over the solar system? There is only one plausible explanation. Earth is being quarantined! A combination of higher alien civilizations and our own Earth-based military forces are working together to keep the Earth contained and neutralized. The reasons why they would do this are obvious, but where is the evidence? Below, we've got enough true facts to get your conspiracy engines revved ...

simoniker writes "Over at Gamasutra, Steve Fulton has published a massive 23,000-word history of Atari from 1978 to 1981, encompassing '... some of the most exciting developments the company ever saw in its history: the rise of the 2600, the development of some of the company's most enduringly popular games (Centipede, Asteroids) and the development and release of its first home computing platforms.' Best quote in there for Slashdot readers, perhaps: 'Atari had contracted with ...

Our beloved Transformers: Generation 1 was not without fault. In fact, each iteration of the titular "Robots in Disguise" has seen its share of missteps: The Transformers universe has managed to throw us some unapologetic curves, some wholly ill-conceived characters.

I honestly can’t remember if we already knew a release date for Fallout 3. I had September in my head, but I think I might have been making presumptions. We definitely know now, anyway: it’s October 28th in America, and October 31st in Europe YOU BASTARDS. If an entire continent’s worth of people manages to pirate the game during those three days, it’s your own damn-fool fault, Bethesda. Which in either case means that I ...

During a bout of iPhone willy-waving down the pub recently, someone observed that there are two things that always get released for any piece of hardware that’s hacked to run homebrew code, and everyone duly installs them. Then doesn’t do anything with them except show them off to people in the pub. The first is Quake. It used to be Doom, but in the 3D age the big Q seems to have become the de ...
