Annoyed by the system beep from the speaker inside your computer’s case? You’ve probably noticed it when pressing backspace on the terminal prompt, or when Firefox’s find function can’t locate your query. Using Compiz, it’s possible to turn off the beep and replace it with a cool visual effect. I’ve posted before on disabling the system beep by blacklisting the pcspkr module. For most people this post is a better solution because you’ll still have ...Contribute comment -

JSON Pickle: Serialize your complex Python objects to JSON (9)

John Paulett wanted to be able to define complex Python model objects, then seamlessly pass them into CouchDB and to client-side Javascript. To make this happen for objects that are beyond primitive sets he created JSON Pickle which has been used on the Universal Feed Parser, and lets you do the following: PLAIN TEXT PYTHON: >>> import jsonpickle >>> from jsonpickle.tests.classes import Thing # Create an object. >>> obj = Thing('A String') >>> print obj.name ...Shared by Azeem (35) Colin (7) daniel (13) Ethan Kaplan (5) Jabapyth (0) Justin (3) pablo (12) Sebastian Werner (16) 小雨 (20)- daniel said: cool python to json transformation

Vladimir Vuki?evi? normally hacks on Mozilla products, but spent a little time on an experiment with IE. An experiment that looks very exciting indeed. I love canvas, and wish that it was ubiquitous. We have great wrappers out there such as dojo.gfx, but wouldn't it be nice if canvas worked everywhere? (and the full API to boot). Well, Vladimir has an experiment to get it to IE. Say whatever you want about the superiority of Flash or Silverlight or [insert platform/paradigm here], but bridging canvas natively to IE represents a big step for standards and for the open Web.

The very best chemistry experiment book for kids is the legendary and long-out-of-print book, the Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments.
