The WTF quote of the day comes from Shabnam Singh, Yuvraj Singh’s mom: Whoever Yuvi ends up marrying would have to be his choice. But, of course, I would need to approve of her. Also, says Shabnam, “she should also be able to pack well and take care of his clothes.” This is the kind of mom who deserves a gay son. Or at least a horrid vixen of a daughter-in-law. L’that only!

Dear Yuvi beta, Having your mom write a matrimonial and/or maid wanted classified is not going to help you get the 2nd most important job in India.

When you want to backtrack a few paces in your web surfing clicktrail but not lose the page you're on, in Firefox 3, click on your current tab, hold down the Ctrl key and drag it. This will duplicate the tab and keep its history in the copy—that way you can back out and stay where you are in another tab. Sadly this trick only works in Firefox for Windows, not on the Mac. Don't ...

Wall-E was wonderful...best new film I've seen in a long time. With it, Andrew Stanton joins Brad Bird in Pixar's top tier of directors, with the much-heralded John Lasseter in third place. But I can see where Tyler Cowen was coming from when he stated in his short review that the film was "not recommended for children" and that "some bold genius at Pixar will be fired". Wall-E was funny, charming, and endearing but also ...

Luggage surcharges are old news at my airline. I’ve had them for years: for second bags that don’t contain golf clubs, for cardboard boxes held together with twine or duct tape, for long, rolled-up things that you bring into the cabin, and for any carry-on item that I . . .

YouTube is everyone's default location now for not only videos, but music, entertainment and just about any other piece of content you might have seen somewhere and want to see again. Copyright issues aside, having this global library of material available gave me an idea for an interesting social experiment the other day. What if everyone took the time to create a compilation of three videos from YouTube that explored a certain theme or subject ...

Andy Baio interviews Alan Taylor, the fellow behind The Big Picture, the journalistic photo blog that's taken the web by storm. Internally, externally, everywhere, people are being really thankful to me. I need to make sure (with some link-love in my upcoming blogroll) that the response gets directed to the photographers as well. I'm just a web developer with access to their photos and a blog - they're the ones out there working hard to ...

Children in the mail! After parcel post service was introduced in 1913, at least two children were sent by the service. With stamps attached to their clothing, the children rode with railway and city carriers to their destination. The Postmaster General quickly issued a regulation forbidding the sending of children in the mail after hearing of those examples. That photo is part of the Smithsonian Institution's collection at Flickr. (link)

There are many things people do not know about BARACK OBAMA. It is every American’s PATRIOTIC DUTY to read this message and pass it along to all of their friends and loved ones. Barack Obama is a PATRIOTIC AMERICAN. He has one HAND over his HEART at all times. He occasionally switches when one arm gets tired, which is almost never because he is STRONG. Barack Obama wears a FLAG PIN at all times, even ...

After yesterday's iPhone 3G revelry, the inevitable hangover. AT&T is done playing nice with iPhone customers. First off, the data plan for 3G is $10 more than the old plan. Second, in-store activation is required, "which takes 10-12 minutes"...with the old version of the iPhone, you could activate through iTunes and it took 2 minutes. (That means no online ordering of phones either.) Third, Apple and AT&T may be working on a purchase penalty for ...
