What The Dark Knight's $500 Million Means [The Dark Knight] (16)
on
io9 (383) permalink
It's finally happened: The Dark Knight broke the $500 million barrier this weekend like a giant man in a well-armored, bat-themed outfit smashing through a skylight that just happens to be well-placed above a crime in progress. But what does that actually mean in the real world? We consider some possible implications. Firstly, the $500 million+ gross by the movie single-handedly saves the summer box office, and also means that director Christopher Nolan will find ...Shared by Adam Fuhrer (53) Ben (18) Brandon Ball (21) Brian Cuban (1061) guy (479) Inthenameofmine (379) Jonathan (10) Krazy (92) maxyRO (395) MrGuff (76) Rami Taibah (332) Richard (40) RyneNelson (192) SMC (204) Tim Howard (12) York (41)Contribute comment -
MPAA Wants ISPs to Cut Off Pirates (20)
on
TorrentFreak (295) permalink
Following on from the IFPI-inspired Italian blockade of The Pirate Bay, the MPAA’s President has been in Italy offering ideas on how to deal with the ‘problem’ of unauthorized file-sharing. Not wanting to flirt too much with originality, Robert Pisano is backing a 3 strikes-and-you’re-out policy. Just how far will the Italian government go in its currently tough anti-piracy mood? Having previously warmed up with the The Distributed Computing Industry Association (DCIA) in April and ...Shared by Cai Chen (781) Darrin Snider (16) DermDoc (Jeff) (44) Dragos Pirvu (436) Krazy (92) Leena (825) Mani Karthik (92) maxyRO (395) Muhammad Saleem (232) Paul Edwards (18) Pranjal P (28) Rachel Cobcroft (94) Rami Taibah (332) Rich (37) Sam (5) SMC (204) Srinvard (28) Stuart (29) Tim Howard (12) Tyson Williams (39)Contribute comment -

Cranky Windows Guy: Apple's iPhone Bugs Stopped Me From Switching to a Mac [Iphone Bugs] (37)
on
Gizmodo (2211) permalink
I've always been a Windows user, which means I've always been subjected to the ridicule of holier-than-thou Apple fans. You know what I'm talking about: blue screen of death jokes, spelling Microsoft with a $ in place of the S, saying "it just works" with a smug, chubby-faced smirk. It's always been annoying, and it's always made me want to avoid using Apple products just so I wouldn't turn into one of those people.

- Dustin Diaz said: Michael Leggett, is that you?
- cek said: damn, this guy wrote the blog post I was planning for me.
- iomegadrive said: I agree. Why does Apple get a free pass when bad things happen, but every other company gets skewered. Is it because the more Steve Jobs ignores us, the more we want his love?
- besighyawn said: "The problem is that Apple has this reality distortion field that they use, which is a brilliant handling of PR most of the time. They give out tiny amounts of information, and by being so stingy they make everyone beg and salivate for little scraps But in the end, Apple is just a company like every other company. They screw up, they release things before they're ready and they botch crisis control. The reality distortion field can't cover for things like that. Their shit still stinks."
- Ricky said: I agree with 98% of this. The difference being I have a first gen iPhone so I don't get the dropped calls .. but I have had a few issues .. the lagginess for certain.
