Social Punishment: The “Bozo” Feature (25)

Web Strategy by Jeremiah (345) permalink
We’re all social creatures, and we thrive on the interactions of others, in fact, these interactions are the primary drivers for troublemakers in communities. I’ve read stories about how babies that are given all the proper medical attention, food, shelter to deem them ‘healthy’ whither away to near death if they don’t get human contact and love and care. The same applies to prison, perhaps one of the more dreaded punishments is sending inmates to ...Shared by ~C4Chaos (84) Alex (31) CannonGod (217) chrisbrogan.com (24) Chuqui (6) Claude (3) Darin R. Screencapture of photo by Brian Westbrook 90 minutes! Today I presented at Gnomedex 8.0. (My slides are here). I started with a story about how Ponzi and Chris helped me demonstrate the networked effect with flickr and twitter for a nonprofit training, then told my story about the America's Giving Challenge, and then I set up a real time fundraising challenge. Threading together some topics that have been on my mind lately, I wanted to bring something different to you for consideration. For all that I talk about social media tools and how they can help businesses, I wanted to look at some real world problems that some of you can help with. I’m inspired in part by a conversation with Britt Raybould tonight, about how the tech community is fairly insulated in our little fishbowl, ...Shared by Gordon (7) Laban Johnson (1) Live & Direct (28) Mark Dykeman (28) Paul Smith (44) Tris Hussey (6) Verlf (3)Contribute comment - Vancouverites Represent at Gnomedex & Vancouver Blog Miss 604 (1)

Last week, Yahoo finally unveiled the long-awaited new version of the social bookmarking site Delicious. Along with the new URL, simply delicious.com, the site got a revamped UI and added new features like selectable detail levels and alphabetical sorting of bookmarks. However, amid the delighted oohs and ahhs from the tech community over the new-and-improved site, some people were raising the valid question: "Who bookmarks anymore?" Besides bookmarking for the sake of making sure a ...Shared by (jeff)isageek (48) Aaron (58) Abdul Jaleel (28) Adam (10) Adam (8) AJ (173) Alan (0) Albert Willis (12) Alex (1) alfred westerveld (25) Amr Awadallah (0) Angelos (4) Antonio Ortiz (37) AriT93 (0) atul (75) Berkay (6) blackbelt (0) Blogtester (5) Brent (9) Brit (24) Caleb Elston (29) Charles Iliya Krempeaux (31) charlie anzman (110) Chmiche (36) Corvida (73) DavidSS (7) Derrik (35) Dimitar D (37) Duane (12) Edwin (13) ehu4ever (80) English Studio (5) Farzin (24) Foo Yong Hwee (8) frieda99 (10) Galtenbergs (19) Garry (2) gocrawford (2) Hawksdomain (38) Hisham (23) Howard Rheingold (1) Ignacio (14) In Dust We Trust (6) Jake (0) Jason (0) Jason (5) jason (4) jccamus (15) jeffry (7) jeroendemiranda (12) jezarnold (12) Jigar Mehta (44) Jim (1) Jody (13) Joe (102) John Park (5) Jose Viveiros (3) Josh (5) Kazuyoshi Kato (10) Kim (21) Krisalis78 (35) Kristian (42) Kyle (17) LaptopHeaven (7) LauraLee (214) lilomerlin (0) Lois Paul & Partners (2) louisgray (146) mabisa (48) maccman (19) Marco K (1) Marque (0) Marshall Sponder (24) masayuki inoguchi (28) Max Stanworth (50) Midh (0) Mike F (455) Monocut (4) Muhammad Basheer (9) Nick (0) Nicolas Lehuen (12) nikhil (25) Oscar Antonio (11) pankaj (13) Patty (264) Paul M. Mixed Messages in The Blogging Landscape (58)
on
ReadWriteWeb (3571) permalink
There has been a lot of discussion recently about the changing face of the blogging landscape. On one hand many bloggers have turned to the likes of FriendFeed and Twitter to express themselves, instead of their blogs. On the other hand we have a group of professional blogs that are becoming more and more like 'old media'. But interestingly, in both cases, there are complaints about how 'social media' is failing them. Media in general ...Shared by Adam (10) atul (75) b (45) Benjamin (1009) Brent Blooodworth (0) Brian (11) Brian (2) caozenghui (29) chantelle (2) charlie anzman (110) CommunicateAsia (10) Dan (78) David Risley (16) Deborah Petersen (36) digits12 (716) Dzu (19) ehu4ever (80) Eric (9) Fernando (3) Frederic (5) Gauravonomics (39) Greg (10) J.D.
