Experts: Passwords May Not Be a Good Online Defense (43)

Tired of creating and changing website passwords? Many experts propose dropping passwords entirely for a security system based on cryptography. For example, machines have a cryptographically encoded conversation to establish both parties’ authenticity, using digital keys that we, as users, have no need to see.Shared by .... Microsoft's Midori - a future without Windows (93)

Engadget (2088) permalink
Filed under: Desktops, Laptops, Networking According to a report, Microsoft isn't just looking at the next version of Windows (no, not Mojave) for future OS possibilities, but is looking beyond the Windows architecture altogether with a project known as Midori. The new OS is still in the "incubation" phase (which puts it slightly closer to market than R&D projects), but Microsoft has admitted to its existence, and the Software Daily Times says at least one ...Shared by AaronTN (34) adam (728) Adam Maldonado (109) Alex Dumitru (210) Alexander Muir (0) Alexander13 (357) Andrew Littler (10) Anthony Muoio (0) Antti Lindström (7) arshad (23) Arthur (16) Avi (461) Ben (11) Ben Jacob (16) Bill (0) Brendon Walsh (0) brian collette (2) Cameron Yeager (12) Chad (3) Chris (0) Daniel Matthews (14) Dave (27) Davis S (11) Dean (0) Deborah Petersen (12) dobata (324) Eduardo batista (3) erbianchi (26) Erwin Tang Yew Hon (33) Fernando Costa de Sousa (1) G Code (12) Gabe (8) Glen Young (11) gorichgo [::] (0) guy (479) hank (2) Iman (4) James (6) Jared (19) Jason (10) Jason Joo (48) Jonathan (17) Jonathan Sterling (8) Jose Fajardo (1) Joseph (0) Josh (7) Kai (275) Karthik Kastury (1) Keef (0) kepp (18) Kichigai Mentat (23) Krazy (92) Kurt (13) Lucas Boyles (11) Martin (11) Martin Strickfaden (8) matthew rutledge (0) Mike (0) mkhall (11) nikhil (7) nkronberg (43) Pat Austin (0) Paul Spoerry (55) Priit^ (43) Punksolid (26) Randy (33) Rob (1) sadiq kassamali (33) Sander Epker (31) Satya (7) ScorpFromHell (8) Scottdwest (2) Sean McBride (50) Sham (102) Shane Coffey (84) Shankar Ganesh (37) Shine (3) sirmikester (17) Spudsstuff (16) Stephen J. Steve Jobs Calls NYT Columnist a "Slime Bucket" (61)

Silicon Alley Insider (307) permalink
Apple lied about Steve Jobs' health when it tried to quash concerns about his appearance at the WWDC conference last month, Joe Nocera of the New York Times says. Steve himself also finally weighed in on the matter last week, calling Joe Nocera a "slime bucket." Most importantly, it seems Steve's cancer has not reappeared. Nocera: Apple tells analysts far less about its operations than most companies do. It turns low-level decisions into state secrets. ...Shared by Adi wong (0) Andrew Schott (48) AndrewBadera (31) Andy (0) Anthony G (0) AnthonyB415 (1) Anton T (3) Austin (4) Ben (11) Beth (1) Billy Adams (17) Brendon Walsh (0) Brian (62) brian collette (2) Chantal (30) Chet Nichols III (0) Chris.
