City Council Officially Tells Stores to Chill Out (2)
permalinkPhotograph of open store doors from the NRDC The City Council voted by an overwhelming margin to pass the bill requiring chain stores to shut their doors when their air conditioners are running, leaving many small business unhappy. Cookie Falack, the owner of six Cookie's clothing stores called it "anti-business" and claimed that when they closed their doors earlier this summer, business went down almost 25 percent. Lessons on Blogging from Jon Stewart (43)
on O'Reilly Radar - Insight, analysis, and research about emerging technologies (306) permalinkThe New York Times today has a fascinating profile of Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show, entitled Is This The Most Trusted Man in America? The article is a wonderful celebration of the person and the spirit of the show he's created. But perhaps more interestingly in the internet context, this article is a must-read for anyone who cares about the future of journalism. It shows how the informality and attitude that we take ...Shared by ~C4Chaos (213) Abhishek (34) Alex (263) Alex (47) Bjoern (40) Brent (98) Buzzworkers (49) CannonGod (479) Chris (152) Daniel Langendorf (97) David (11) David (120) Dedalus (42) Donnie Berkholz (62) Dr. Ernie (96) Dustin (7) Eric Carlson (5) Gauravonomics (158) Jaap Willem (39) Jay (50) Joe (2) Julie (32) Kevin Marks (31) Kris (49) kskobac (27) Mark (29) Marshall Sponder (95) Martin Gordon (50) Maurice (47) Maxine (39) Mike F (1545) Nathan (13) neilfws (31) nicknich3 (59) p0ps (38) Pete (93) peter keane (30) prexec (76) Ricardo M. The Jury Duty Scam – coming to a phone near you? (3)
on Wise Bread (114) permalinkBy Paul Michael My wife forwarded me one of those “hey everyone, don’t fall for this” emails this morning. I get one from a friend or relative at least once a week, and usually they’re well-meaning but filled with gross inaccuracies or are just completely untrue. However, when I looked to my source for all things BS, snopes.com, I discovered this one was 100% true. It’s called the Jury Duty scam. It’s a smart, simple ...Contribute comment

Anniversary Reflections (3)
on dangerouslyawesome (6) permalinkToday, 8/10/08, marks the 1 year anniversary of Geoff and I signing the lease and acquiring the keys to the office at 32 Strawberry street that myself and a few dozen others have come to fondly call home. That home has allowed for the cultivation of one of the most exciting and impactful communities I’ve had the privileged of being a part of. In less than a week, it will be the two year anniversary ...

Thomas Hawk's Digital Connection: More on the Whole Simon Blint Fiasco (16)
on Thomas Hawk's Digital Connection (384) permalinkWell I didn't quite expect the Simon Blint fiasco that resulted in my forceful ejection from the SF MOMA on Friday to generate quite the attention that it has. That said, I've had 48 hours or so now to reflect on the incident more and I wanted to share more of my thoughts and feelings. I also want to take an opportunity to clear up some misconceptions and allegations that have been raised due to ...Shared by Bill HR (21) Bluesun 2600 (15) btvillarin (18) cgsheldon (572) Drew Olanoff (464) Grant (17) Holger E (15) John Magnus (146) Ken (7) Martin Gordon (50) Mike F (1545) morgan180 (41) Nicole Hastings (1) Russell (5) Trevor (61) tsangal (25)Contribute comment
