The LA Times notes the popularity of the Club Penguin Times: The Club Penguin Times … is more widely read than New York’s Daily News, the Chicago Tribune or the Dallas Morning News. And it’s not even 3 years old. But this weekly “newspaper” isn’t tossed onto driveways or sold at newsstands. Rather, it’s an online publication distributed to the estimated 6.7 million monthly users of Club Penguin, a snow-covered virtual world visited by more ...Contribute comment -

Most Facebook developer events we've attended have been a bunch of dudes drinking beer and talking shop. Last summer, our first official day of work at SAI was capped off with a trip to the developer 'Hackathon' at Union Square Ventures, where coders ate pizza, sipped, and talked about their apps. That was cool. So what's the point of an invite-only Facebook seminar with a 30-minute "keynote" that someone's paid $15,000 to give? We can't ...Shared by Coxymoney (11) Hiten Shah (4)Contribute comment - Tom Fishburnes Brand Camp - Lulu.com (2)

Yesterday I did a couple of interviews at Facebook’s headquarters that’ll be up over the next couple of weeks. But in between I stopped at Chris Putnam’s desk. I’ve known him since he was 16, living in Atlanta (he showed me a web service he built so that people on the Internet could listen to him practice his piano). Anyway, he’s the guy who built Facebook’s video system. Interesting that he has three monitors on ...Contribute comment -

All too often, technology companies fail to find the right balance within their business executives. When a business exec is too technical, she may not have the aggressiveness or “street smarts” to help a young company succeed. If a business exec isn’t technical enough, he might swim out of his depth and make wrong decisions about key technology or product hires. Fun Way to Lose Weight: Turn Dieting Into an RPG (65)

A friend of mine recently slimmed down on Weight Watchers. She joined two months ago, and in just a couple of weeks, she'd shed 10 pounds. She'd been trying for a year to lose weight, but nothing worked -- until now. Why did Weight Watchers work so well? For a really fascinating reason: because it isn't a normal diet. It's something more. Something fun. It's an RPG. The Weight Watchers program is designed precisely like ...Shared by Aaron (24) adam (716) Adam Crowe (5) Alex (3) Ali T (17) Allan Espinosa (4) Allison (9) Ariel Waldman (1) Arraine (101) Ashok (4) Barry Mitchelson (8) Brent (1) Brian (62) Brian Zalewski (1) Cai Chen (769) Caitirin (11) Carbonlord (46) Charles (5) Chris (5) Cigar Jack (16) CJ (7) David Singer (1) Dennis Bjørn Petersen (12) Denubis (2) EricaJoy (5) Glen Murphy (1) Glutnix (7) gtanuel (1) Hiten Shah (4) Hunter Walk (4) Jeff Golden (12) Jeff Trexler (4) Jen-Chieh (2) jezarnold (11) John (1) Josh Shabtai (9) Kevan (0) Kevin (3) Kevin De Mulder (24) kidmarmite (26) koovus (50) korbinian (4) Lauren (0) Leena (806) Leyla Bonilla (74) Linn Sovig (1) marc-oliver (7) Mark Dykeman (6) mathewi (9) mr_gadget (149) neal (352) Nelson Minar (1) Nick Bunker (1) Patrick (17) ProfVegas (144) Rob Jensen (2) Roger (12) Sean (6) stefan (7) Sun Tzu (313) susanna (63) Thlayli (8) TJ (32) Varun Mahajan (6) xantha (1)Explore read five notes- Chris said: um. yeah.

I imagine this would be more palatable to say, overweight gaming addicts of there was an actual avatar that lost weight and leveled up based on the data of the real person. Add in some competition and it'll be all the rage. Though, given some peoples competitive natures, we may end up with a bunch of skeletors. *eek*
