- Jim said: The real world bottom line is that desktop OSes are boring the business context. They exist to provide a platform onto which productivity and line of business and applications are consumed. Those business applications are increasingly being delivered via the web browser making the OS somewhat superfluous. Windows XP SP3 is the most stable, secure, Active Directory client that can deliver this platform. Until such time as Linux, MAC or Windows can deliver a compelling Active Directory client then Windows XP will remain king in the enterprise.
