One of the most significant legal rulings in our tech world has just been settled: forcing people to pay termination fees if they want to break their contract is in fact, a violation of the state law. In this particular case, Sprint is being ordered to pay their customers $18.2 million in reimbursements and more importantly, dropping their practice of collecting termination fees for their 2+ million customers."While an appeal is inevitable, the ruling could ...

We saw a recent post on ATLA about welcoming smoking guests into your non-smoking house. While some of you thought you should ban the offending chimneys completely, others of you seemed willing to work with smoking visitors. Maybe this gadget will help: The Ionic Smokeless Ashtray.Neo-Tec’s Ionic Smokeless Ashtray claims to be the world’s first ashtray that actually purifies cigarette smoke as it leaves the cigarette. As much as we would love to outfit our roof with solar panels, it's just too much of an upfront investment. With retailers like Ikea getting into the solar panel game though, we would expect the price to come down dramatically.....eventually. In the mean time, Connecticut has a nice approach that could get you set up for solar now. Rather than foot the approximately $30,000 bill up front, if you are in the right income ...

It's amazing if you think about it: We've come so far in the world of communications in the last 20 years. That's why we think the Drivemocion might be incredibly useful. The Drivemocion is a battery-powered wireless message sign that can be attached to the rear window of your car with a suction ...

What happens if you're on a trip in middle of nowhere and you get a flat? You swap to your spare, right? OK, now you are in the middle of nowhere, with no back up. Your only option now is to head to civilization to get your tire repaired, which can wreck a camping trip fast. This weekend I was reminded how few people know about these tire plug kits or how to use them. ...

When my husband and I moved into our new apartment recently, we knew a coat of fresh paint would spiff up the place, but with a new baby we wanted to pay special attention to the kind of paint we used. Unlike a lot of VOC-free paints (VOC = volatile organic compounds), Benjamin Moore's Aura line of low-VOC acrylic paints isn't thin or runny, dries really fast (literally an hour or less) and it's available ...
