Googel Lively: Be who you want on the web pages you visit (121)
on The Official Google Blog (1307) permalinkPosted by Niniane Wang, Engineering ManagerA while ago, I looked around the social web and wished that it could be less static. Sure, you can leave a comment on a blog or write a text blurb on your social networking profile. But what if you want to express yourself in a more fun way, with 3D graphics and real-time avatar interactions? I started asking this question as a 20% project, and I'm excited to announce ...Shared by !&# (262) Alberto (68) Andrew Girdwood (78) Andy Li (18) Aneel (55) Anu (20) Atilano (133) Ben (24) Ben Graver (1) Benjamin Golub (129) Benk (89) Brant (38) Brian E. - Kenny Stoltz said: So winning a contest for alphaing the room creation features of this product is what got me the iPhone. I have to say that it's interesting but not that interesting. The main difference in a years worth of work is that now it's not buggy which it was. It still is a resource hog and Windows-only. I'm honestly amazed at how slow it is but it's the first of its kind from Google and Niniane and her team had to create a lot of it from scratch I guess. Hopefully they're green lighted to keep working on it because I do see some potential in it... but it has to cut down the memory/CPU intensiveness.
- Peter D said: Oh My God. This is a pretty well done implementation of an old (and probably before its time) idea, but the promo video the team made for the launch made me want to vomit. Jeezus! What the Fucking Fuck?

Given that the new Privacy link fit best with legal disclaimers on the page, I looked to the copyright line. There, we dropped the word "Google" (realizing it was implied, obviously) and added the new privacy link alongside it."

Official Google Blog: Google learns to crawl Flash (187)
