Earth at Night Credit: C. Mayhew & R. Simmon (NASA/GSFC), NOAA/NGDC, DMSP Digital Archive Explanation: This is what the Earth looks like at night. Can you find your favorite country or city? Surprisingly, city lights make this task quite possible. Human-made lights highlight particularly developed or populated areas of the Earth's surface, including the seaboards of Europe, the eastern United States, and Japan. Many large cities are located near rivers or oceans so that they ...- Travis Swicegood said: I want to move to central Australia

permalinkI am less enamoured of world cricket these days. It is a noisy game, full of boastful official chatter, where manners on the field have become disposable, and Twenty20 threatens to derail everything else. The best love affairs, anyway, come in our youth, and these men I grew up with. Always I watched them. Now especially, even though occasionally it is painful to see them lurch and stagger, feet mixed up and bat late. But ...Shared by Nishith Prabhakar (33)

A Solar Prominence Unfurls On September 29, this magnificent eruptive solar prominence lifted away from the Sun's surface, unfurling into space over the course of several hours. Suspended in twisted magnetic fields, the hot plasma structure is many times the size of planet Earth and was captured in this view by the Sun-watching STEREO (Ahead) spacecraft. The image was recorded in extreme ultraviolet light emitted by ionized Helium, an element originally identified in the solar ...Shared by annacoder (11) B (15) clickykbd (7) Goatlady (22) Jeff (20) Jordan Brock (18) Nishith Prabhakar (33) Saarikorpi (26) tietoukka (82)- B said: I thought there was a full moon, but this explains why my day was so whack

There's a renewed focus, in my opinion, to make things easier to find around The Big Blue Monster. Dear Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan BBC reports that you have recently called on women in Saudi Arabia to “wear a full veil, or niqab, that reveals only one eye.” You say that “showing both eyes encourage[s] women to use eye make-up to look seductive.” I believe, sir, that showing only one eye will make matters worse. You see, whenever a woman and a man are together and the woman blinks, the man might think that she ...Shared by Nishith Prabhakar (33) V-Mo (42)Contribute comment -
