Democrats fail to back Barack Obama. (7)
on Lessig Blog (405) permalinkObama has famously (and rightfully) refused money from lobbyists and PACs. After he became the presumptive nominee, the DNC did the same. But both the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee still accept money from lobbyists and PACs. As this issue of reform is (sadly) increasingly invisible in this campaign, we at Change Congress are launching a campaign to get the Dems to be consistent about this. Ideally, the DSCC and ...Contribute comment

It's Official: Mashup Privacy Protocol OAuth Is Fair Game (50)
on ReadWriteWeb (15141) permalinkOAuth, the open authorization protocol standard that will let users give limited access to their data to third party websites without giving away their passwords, crossed an important threshold tonight. All parties involved in building the spec have signed a covenant of non-assertion, meaning that OAuth can now be safely implemented anywhere without concern about Intellectual Property lawsuits. If You Want To Create a Mashup, Just Ask Your Browser. Mozilla Labs Launches Ubiquity. (106)

How Simple Web Design Helps Your Business (189)
on Smashing Magazine (5552) permalinkMany e-commerce sites these days tend to be loaded down with too much information on their landing pages. The reasoning for cluttered e-commerce sites is simple: the more information you can cram on the page, the more the user will buy. Unfortunately, web buyers are a finicky bunch.
