Integrate Launchy with Wget [Download Managers] (9)
on
Lifehacker (11930) permalink
Reader Justin writes in with a clever idea for quickly launching downloads with the popular command-line download manager, wget. His method: Make wget available to Launchy, then pass the URL of the file you want to download to wget through Launchy. Here's how it works: Install Launchy. Download wget and copy the files from the unzipped folder to C:\Windows. Create a shortcut to C:\Windows/wget.exe and rename it dl. Place that shortcut in your Start menu. ...Shared by Aaron R (151) Brian Antonelli (32) bussiere (28) Compuwizard123 (40) JASon (11) Kwasi (70) Mick (49) MrQwest (32) Sid (27)Contribute comment -

Reader Dylan Boom shows how to mix operating systems environments with style in his Mac Meets Windows Dual-Desktop. Dylan is running OS X with XP in a virtual machine, and each system is completely customized to form a beautiful transition between Mac and Windows. Frankly, neither system puts the other to shame. Here's a rundown of all the hardware, apps, and tweaks Dylan made to both operating systems to pull off this pleasant coexistence: Computer: ...Shared by Aaron M. When I posted about using navigator.geolocation now the only support that I had was via Gears and the ClientLocation API. I wrote the shim to try to get you the W3C API no matter what, and today we have the first implementation in a browser, via Geode. Geode is the latest project in Mozilla Labs that gives you that API in Firefox. We last spoke of Bill Shatner when we talked about JJ Abrams talking about writing a part for Shatner in his Star Trek Reboot and it appears he was only partly accurate about the situation. The Shat himself decided to address the issue himself. ComingSoon.net says: It seems to us that someone in the film’s production told Abrams that Shatner didn’t want to do a cameo and wanted the movie to focus on him.
