Vendor Presentations (1)
on ntschutta.com (2) permalinkRecently, I sat through some vendor presentations and while I won’t name names, I just have to say: learn to give better talks. If I had a dime for every speaker that said some variation of “if you can read this slide” I’d be playing *a lot* more golf. In what I can only call yet another example of how Scott Adams hides out in my office, our friend Wally shows off a slide that ...Shared by Andy (50)Contribute comment

"What black arts could have stripped this chocolate of its natural hue?" (6)
on jwz (305) permalinkSelections From H.P. Lovecraft's Brief Tenure as a Whitman's Sampler Copywriter Chocolate Cherry Cordial You must not think me mad when I tell you what I found below the thin shell of chocolate used to disguise this bonbon's true face. Yes! Hidden beneath its rich exterior is a hideously moist cherry cordial! What deranged architect could have engineered this non-Euclidean aberration? I dare not speculate. Caramel Chew There is a dimension ruled by a blind ...Contribute comment

What Makes for a Good Blog? (177)
on 43 Folders (1967) permalinkMy friends at Six Apart recently asked me to make a list of blogs that I enjoy. I think they’re planning to use it for their new Blogs.com project. - Shane said: Sometimes I swear Merlin is reading my mind.
- Allan said: yeah, you're right, he DID just totally describe MY blog
- James F said: These seem like good ideas.
- Barry Wynn said: Good blogs try. I’ve come to believe that creative life in the first-world comes down to those who try just a little bit harder. Then, there’s the other 98%. They’re still eating the free continental breakfast over at FriendFeed. A good blog is written by a blogger who thinks longer, works harder, and obsesses more. Ultimately, a good blogger tries. That’s why “good” is getting rare.

★ Memoranda (26)
on Daring Fireball (3626) permalinkApple and Microsoft, as ever, offer a study in contrasts. Take, for example, two recent company-wide memos from CEOs Steve Jobs and Steve Ballmer. Jobs’s, leaked last week, regarded the botched launch of MobileMe. Ballmer’s, from two weeks ago, outlined Microsoft’s strategic goals for the next year. The difference in their leadership styles is evident simply from studying the differences in their writing styles. Jobs’s memo is brief, humble, and focused. DeathSpank is not... (2)
on Grumpy Gamer (18) permalinkDespite what 1UP said, DeathSpank is NOT a superhero. I hate superheroes. I'm one of only 5 people on the planet brave enough to admit the new Batman movie was a big pile of poo. Come on people. Think about it. There was only one superhero movie worth more than the vomit of plastic it was printed on and it was pure genius: Unbreakable. #331. Missionary family photos - Part 1 of 2 (1)
on Stuff Christians Like (227) permalinkI love missionaries. Honestly, they are some of my favorite people on the planet. My uncle started an orphanage in Kenya that is giving a home to more than 300 kids. Compassion International does some great work and I've recently made friends with some folks in Haiti. Like I said, I love missionaries. That's why in addition to helping you write short mission trip fundraising letters, I thought it would be good to help you ...Shared by Andy (50)Contribute comment

#323. Trying to look cool at church. (1)
on Stuff Christians Like (227) permalinkMy wife and I attend North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. It’s a megachurch full of the most attractive people you’ve ever seen in your life. Seriously, I haven’t verified this with any of my friends that work there but I’m fairly confident they keep ugly people away with some sort of force field. Or they have their own service that they all attend. I’m not sure, the point is that everyone there is ...Shared by Andy (50)Contribute comment
