Platform: (PSN,XBLM,PC) The downloadable services for this current generation of consoles have seen a handful of remakes of classic games. But there isn't anything out there quite like Bionic Commando: Rearmed. This remake is built from the ground up, rather than an emulation of the original with a new coat of paint. It modernizes a classic by staying true to the soul of the game, evoking the right pieces of 8-bit nostalgia in the right ...

Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, iPhoneAs we've noted before, the iPhone 3G isn't as speedy as we'd like and sometimes has connections problems. Some folks have been blaming the carriers, like AT&T here in the States, but evidence is mounting that the problem may lie with the iPhone itself. GigaOm quotes an analyst at Nomura Securities who put the blame on "...an immature chipset and radio protocol stack" from maker Infineon.Meanwhile, CNET is reporting that ...

Filed under: Retail, iPhoneMacNN is reporting that US big box store Best Buy will begin selling iPhones on September 7th. The move could help reduce the long lines that are still developing at Apple and AT&T stores. You may remember a rumor about this last month.Best Buy has been slowly developing a retail relationship with Apple. A few years ago, certain locations were given Mac minis to sell. That program has matured to the "mini ...

An estimated 15 percent of Americans still use dial-up to connect to the Internet. And they might as well. Because according to a new study by the Communication Workers of America, the typical real-time Internet connection speed in the United States isn’t that much faster. CWA’s Speed Matters survey found the median download speed in the U.S. to be a mortifying 2.35 megabits per second. Pathetic. In Japan the median download speed is 63.60Mbps. In ...

I’m not sure which is more humiliating, the fact that the opening ceremony for this year’s Olympics in China culminated with the unwitting projection of the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) onto the roof of the National Stadium, presumably in full view of Microsoft (MSFT) Chairman Bill Gates, who was in the audience. Or that the organizers of the event decided to run Windows XP, and not Vista, on their PCs and were happy to ...

Filed under: Cult of Mac, Found Footage, iPhone A slight kerfuffle has kicked up in the last few days about whether Apple's iPhone 3G advertising is too misleading. 37Signals raised the complaint that a recent iPhone 3G ad (YouTube link) set up false expectations, as it shows an iPhone loading a web page, finding a location on Google Maps, and downloading an attachment at lightning speed. Now comes this nice side by side demonstration video ...

I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for Google Maps getting all clone-happy in this part of Holland. It's probably just a secret alien landing site or something. The whole area is full of Photoshopped artefacts. Theories welcome. Thanks to MK!
