New for the 2008 NFL season: the NFL TV distribution maps that tell you which football games are going to be broadcast is which parts of the country. They're using zoomable Google Maps this year...here's what a typical coverage map looks like: During football season in a TV market like NYC, which is dominated by coverage of two local teams (Giants and Jets), this is an essential tool for determining if you're actually gonna get ...

I don't find myself in a market where this is frequently in doubt, but this is for all the Packer fans who watch Fox / CBS in Minneapolis.

So, are you enjoying the snappy, clean performance of Google Chrome since downloading yesterday? If so, you might want to take a closer peek at the end user license agreement you didn't pay any attention to when downloading and installing it. Because according to what you agreed to, Google owns everything you publish and create while using Chrome. Ah-whaaa? Here are the juicy bits in question: 11. Content license from you 11.1 You retain copyright ...

This EULA is so unreasonable that the state of Washington would throw it out in a second. There's legal precedent here, so I'm not terribly worried about it.

A profile of Alec Baldwin by Ian Parker for the New Yorker. He recalled a day, a few years ago, when he was driving through L.A., saw a car run a red light, smash into another car, and keep moving. Baldwin gave chase and, eventually, blocked the culprit in a cul-de-sac. Before the police arrived, the driver got out of his car -- "Typical drug-addict, alcoholic, fuckhead look on his face. He was, 'O.K., what? ...

Before the iPhone 3G came out in July, I did a quick price survey on the 1st generation iPhones being sold on eBay. A quick search reveals that used & unlocked 8Gb iPhones are going for ~$400 and 16Gb for upwards of $500, with never-opened phones going for even more. After the 3G came out, the prices on the old iPhone remained about the same. I just checked eBay again and those prices are down ...

In its 10-year tenure, more than 3 million people have visited the Trek themed exhibit. 'Trekkies are incensed. They've scrawled reminiscences about the exhibit on the walls inside, and they're calling Cedar Fair and the hotel to complain. But their online rumor that the ...

Not only does independent developer/publisher Stardock put out some great strategy games, they’re also somewhat well known for completely omitting any sort of DRM in their releases. Building upon this idea of actually, y’know, treating PC gamers with some modicum of respect, they’ve released a list entitled “The Gamer’s Bill of Rights,” a collection of standards that we can expect to see the company employ from this point on.Gamers shall have the right to return ...

Just when we'd sort of gotten over Tokyoflash's watch design, they announce the Rogue, a wristpiece that refreshes their LED-driven sci-fi style while staying true to their confounding time-telling design. The death-green flavor LCD is standard on the Rogue, but the watch comes in silver and gunmetal (otherwise known as the two official best man colors evar). However, even with Tokyoflash's helpful cheat sheet, just how one actually tells time with this watch left us ...

So today, I upgraded my 17" MBP to a 500GB hard drive, a Samsung HM500LI. It's only 5400 RPM, but I'll trade space for rotational speed, esp. when I'm going from 300GB to 500GB. Not much I do cares about drive speed. For anyone, a brain transplant kind of sucks, but on a laptop, it can be especially tedious, since you have to deal with external drives in some form. In my case, the only ...

Filed under: Blu-ray To say that Wall-E was a hit for Disney would be grossly understating it, and that's evidenced by the robust Blu-ray release that's being primed for a November 18th release. Unsurprisingly, Disney and Buena Vista Home Entertainment will be releasing this one just before the holiday shopping season really gets going, and we have a hunch it'll probably do some record smashing of its own. The 3-disc BD package will include Digital ...
