Non-profit gives itself a Google makeover (11)

The Official Google Blog (917) permalink
Back in May, we introduced a site called Google for Non-Profits, to showcase the tools organizations can use to raise funds and collaborate easily and efficiently. These tools, we hoped, would enable non-profits to focus less on creaky email systems or lost documents -- and more on their missions. For at least one non-profit, this was old news. Months before we unveiled our non-profit site, Marianne Clauw, who chairs CASA Washtenaw, an organization pairing volunteers with ...Shared by chachra (2) Darkick (0) Eater (20) Fabio Giglietto (2) gfurry (11) gisc (3) Jardenberg (9) JohnMu (9) Jrod (58) kepp (17) MiramarMike (18)- Eater said: This is really cool.

Google Maps walking directions had been spotted by some users before, and now they’re being rolled out for everyone, as Search Engine Roundtable reports. Try this directions search in New York, for instance, and you’ll see the “Walking” link on top activated (though this isn’t just restricted to US locations, as a test search in Germany showed). Google has the following disclaimer following their “beta” notice: “Use caution when walking in unfamiliar areas.” Uhm, OK. ...Shared by adamgn (11) AJ (154) Archit T (8) Avi (1) Carl Fyffe (2) Carlos Pinto (5) Chirantan (6) Chris (1) Crysti the Great (6) danb420 (9) enSue (25) focoma (12) Jardenberg (9) jeremy (9) Jigar Mehta (27) kidmarmite (25) Lari Numminen (0) norti (18) Priyadarsan Venugopalan (7) Qian (28) Rutger Blom (1) Ryan (24) Sai Gudigundla (9) Sean Harvell (0) Steven (7) Thadman (3) Tim (11) Vulpes (1) ziizii (1) 猫影 (12) 이장 (32)Contribute comment -

As Facebook continues to roll out the full version of its new user profiles, it’s becoming clear that their primary goal isn’t, as they said in May, to simply create a cleaner user experience and allow developers to have more meaningful engagement points with users.
