After dark years, seems like good things are coming out from the Italian .NET community lately: the latest one is the free eBook on Data Structures and Algorithms wrote by Granville Barnett and the Italian UGIdotNET member, Luca Del Tongo. I remember studying such things at the university, and the last time I helped a friend with his studies the books were still the same, and still based on "old" languages like C. Finally now ...

Maxconsole has word from a Best Buy insider that the PSP-3000 is compatible with DualShock controllers. That’s an interesting rumor, isn’t it? Furthermore, the same insider says that the 160GB PS3 won’t be compatible with PS2 games, so snag a MGS4 bundle while you can. Image courtesy of pittam

Sir Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony, shown above in one of his rare performances, is reporting that Sony Ericsson is having quite a bit of trouble staying together. The company, founded as a joint venture in 2001, aimed to shore up Ericsson’s failing handset business with Sony’s design know how. Now, however, the companies are having difficulties producing products due to breakdowns in communication. The real knife to the gut? Will Sony Ericsson still exist ...

The Acer Aspire One netbook. It’s inexpensive, it’s tiny, and the base-level version only comes with 512MB of RAM. I cracked open the case, voided the warranty, and added an extra gigabyte. Watch the above video to see how. More details after the jump. Tools Needed Small Philips screwdriver Two small flathead screwdrivers (or something similar) to get at the keyboard 512MB or 1GB stick of RAM. For best results, use PC2-5300 RAM. Time, patience, ...

From the blog post: That’s why today I’m happy to share early details of Android Market—an open content distribution system that will help end users find, purchase, download and install various types of content on their Android-powered devices. The concept is simple: leverage Google’s expertise in infrastructure, search and relevance to connect users with content created by developers like you. Developers will be able to make ...

The Philips Essence is a television that is only 38 millimeters thick. It has a 100Hz display that provides a 2 millisecond response time. At only 36 pounds, it is ideal for wall mounting and even includes a self-leveling mounting kit so you won’t need to venture into Home Depot. A single cable connects the display to the media hub, providing power, audio and video. The sound bar (note the lower case) can be removed ...

Not only is the Walkman still alive and kicking, but Sony updated three individual series today. We’ll start with the entry-level B-series. This one only plays music and lacks video playback like its older siblings, but you can drag and drop your music via USB. Add on the FM radio and voice recorder and this isn’t that bad a deal. Battery life is expected up to 16 hours. The 1GB model will come in red, ...

Apple Insider uncovered some documents filed by Apple a couple months ago detailing some aspects of a touch-based interface in a full OS X environment. It shows a pair of horribly gnarled hands interacting with iTunes, and vaguely human hands touching generic windows and such. A sort of “virtual click wheel” seems to be implemented, although other than that there are few revelations. I’m sure these documents will have no effect whatsoever on the rumor ...

Steve Jobs’ passed away yesterday…at least that’s what Bloomberg stated by running his obituary a bit prematurely. It seems that someone was updating Jobs’ lifetime achievements and accidently posted the 17-page history out on the interweb. So no, the father of all that is Apple and good is still alive and kicking. This brings up a great thought though. The man is sick. Cancer sick. Steve has been battling pancreatic cancer since 2003 and it ...
