So much for Joost’s carefully prepared plans to release a browser version of their TV over IP service later this month. News leaked this morning that Joost would be abandoning their year old XUL based desktop client in favor of a browser based service that’s more like Hulu and YouTube. Users will still be required to download a plugin that facilitates P2P transfers of files, which is still an adoption hurdle. But at least users ...

No matter how tasteful or tasteless you think Lamborghinis are (as if it matters what most of us think of them), you have to admit the idea of writing all over one with Sharpie markers is pretty cool. It took Prestige (Lamborghini Miami) about 2 weeks to ink the artwork and seal it up with a layer of clear coat. See more pictures of the car here. Subscribe | Digg! | del.icio.us | Facebook | ...

Distinctly and wonderfully Brazilian, Calu Fontes' painted, one-of-a-kind porcelain accessories are influenced by the lively Bahia region in northern Brazil, from where her family hails. The mix of colors with patterns — on trays, teapots, vases, plates, tiered platters, carafes and cups — reflects the cultural heart of the country. Each handmade piece is the result of a method that involves burning the painted images (like references to gods from the Afro-Brazilian religion of Candomble, ...

Google have just announced their new open-source browser Google Chrome, via the ingenious medium of a comic strip: It’s good to see a new approach being used like this, particularly commissioned illustration. First of all, the good news is they’re using Webkit. I remember John Allsopp joking about how great it would be if there was just one rendering engine, that was downloaded just like the Flash plugin. It’ll never happen, but the rapid adoption ...

Google Blogoscoped has published a lengthly cartoon sent to them by Google and drawn by Scott McCloud that provides the first public details about Google Chrome, an open source browser based on WebKit and powered by Google Gears that has been rumored but never before confirmed. According to the cartoon (which can be seen in its entirely here - thanks Marshall), the Google Chrome project has already undergone a substantial period of development with engineers ...

this paragraph summed it up for me: "Google is leveraging its massive server infrastructure to run automatic performance tests for Chrome. The company is claiming that its Chrome Bot can test the browser on tens of thousands of different webpages within 20-30 minutes of each build. These webpages are chosen on the basis of their popularity, which has already been determined by Google with the data it collects from its search users. When Google started testing Chrome, it only rendered 23% of those pages correctly (no word on how many it gets right as of today now it apparently renders 99% correctly)."Google is able to test it's browser without people because of what it knows. I don't think any other company has been able to do that to this scale before.Kind of scary, yet highly efficient. Kind of like the power plants from The Matrix.
