Raptr, the social network that revolves around gaming, has launched in public beta. The robust site allows users to keep tabs on what their friends are doing throughout the gaming world, and also offers gaming recommendations, accomplishment updates, and a host of other features. The site is designed to appeal to casual and hardcore gamers alike. In fact, Raptr avoids using the term “gamer” entirely, instead choosing to describe itself as a “social platform for ...Shared by Adrian (14) Ahmed (62) Alexander13 (467) ameo (201) Ananya Walia (762) Benedict Lee Zhi En (163) Carlton (29) Dan (12) David (21) DC (11) easyon (6) Eric Atkins (23) GeniusBoyWonder (27) Kerry (31) Kyle (2) Leximo (403) Ritu (619) Ryan Lewis (65) tommyp (3) Wally (13) Wayne (52)- Wayne said: http://raptr.com/muffinhunter

A journalist friend of mine once said about Google "they are a freak of a company, the best advertising business ever built is funding the largest collection of mad scientists ever assembled". I love that description of Google and have used it many times. But it suggests that Google is chaos and I don't think that is true at all. Google is building a collection of web apps, like gmail, gcal, and google docs, that ...Shared by ack (17) Akshay Kapur (4) Alan Veeck (10) Alex (6) Andreas (4) Andrew Boardman (69) Anton Johansson (53) atul (75) Charles (3) Charles (12) cooperative (46) css (5) dani (22) David (14) dgdeschenes (11) Gauravonomics (39) GeniusBoyWonder (27) glecharles (17) Gordo (4) Isaac (52) Jared Hanson (11) Javed (119) Jeff (5) John (19) joshuabacker (12) Ken Kennedy (11) louisgray (142) MASTERMIND (38) MrGuff (80) Nuno (15) Paul Moss (10) Peter (5) Simon (33) svartling (27) Vincent van Wylick (20) Will Cole (9)- Charles said: This guy gets it.

Google Launches Cloud Operating System And Calls It Browser (19)

Silicon Alley Insider (492) permalink
Back in the days when Microsoft was an unabashed monopoly, the company's strategy was "link and lever"--as in link new products to the Windows operating system and lever them into a dominant market position. Those who once used the market-leading Lotus 123, Notes, WordPerfect, and other programs will remember how effective this strategy was. When Microsoft rolled out its first web browser, in 1995 (or thereabouts), it "linked and levered" again--by building Internet Explorer into ...Shared by Babychen Mathew (339) Brian Cuban (1084) Cai Chen (995) Dan Frommer (9) danliebke (53) Digg Boss (641) Donna DeClemente (9) Drew Olanoff (144) Eric Peloquin (3) GeniusBoyWonder (27) Joe (102) Leena (1060) Mikael (13) mr94 (10) Narayanan Hariharan (168) pmccarthy (3) Ritu (619) Tobias Verhoog (18) vlvl (15)Contribute comment -
Facebook selling digital gifts at a $35m run rate (11)

Lightspeed Venture Partners Blog (50) permalink
In January of this year, we estimated that Facebook was selling digital gifts worth $15m per year. We based this estimate on an analysis of the number of each gift available each week over a 7 week period. Facebook creates a certain fixed number of each type of gift. When the number remaining for any particular gift drops below 100,000, Facebook displays the number left. (The most common size runs are 100,000 and 1,000,000 but ...Shared by Adam (36) Avi (598) charlie anzman (105) Chris J Guerra (25) dave mcclure (3) GeniusBoyWonder (27) Nick Cobb (474) Rami Taibah (419) Sam (15) stern (59) StudentMfri (2)Contribute comment -
Web 2.0 Industry As a Perfect Example of Crowd Thinking (29)

Back in my university years when I studied philosophy I once wrote a paper on crowd thinking and behavior. That experience taught me that crowd is a very dangerous phenomenon because a crowd rarely can be reasonable and people can be easily manipulated to follow guidance from any leader clever enough to issue orders a crowd will understand. Unfortunately now that I watch web 2.0 as an industry I often notice classical examples of crowd ...Shared by 1only (73) charlie anzman (105) Dave Lafferty (8) DermDoc (Jeff) (44) Digital Biographer (10) digits12 (703) dobata (366) Earl E Morningwood (59) Eric Rice (28) Ernst-Jan (6) GeniusBoyWonder (27) grow (20) J.D.
