Firefox only (Windows/Mac/Linux): The Auto Dial Firefox extension automatically places shortcuts to your most frequently visited web sites inside all of your new, empty tabs. Mozilla Labs recently suggested that empty tabs could be put to better use by offering no-cost options for the user (i.e., if what you want isn't what's offered, it doesn't hurt anything). Although not as inspired as the undeveloped concept at Mozilla Labs, Auto Dial fits perfectly with this idea. ...

The first design image of the HTC Dream AKA T-Mobile G1 better known as the first Google Android OS powered phone is out via the AndroidGuys. The phone seems inspired by HTC's Sidekick in its QWERTY keyboard, buttons layout and slide out screen. It also seems to have a slim form factor, which should help it compete with Apple's iPhone or the new Bl

iPhone developers still bound by an Apple gag order are paying each other $1 to share coding tips. That way, if challenged by Apple's legal department, they can argue that they are subcontractors and therefore free to discuss the software.

Welcome to the world of reverse graffiti, where the artist’s weapons are cleaning materials and where the enemy is the elements: wind, rain, pollution and decay. It’s an art form that removes dust or dirt rather than adding paint.

We're huge fans of application launchers around these parts, but if your computer's running on fumes and you can't spare 15 or so extra megabytes of RAM to an app launcher, the Download Squad weblog details how to roll your own app launcher with the Windows Run dialog. Keep in mind that this method doesn't provide any of the advanced indexing or other features you get from other app launchers—you have to configure all your ...

Gasoline prices rose to a record-high four expletives per gallon Monday, a rate of fuel-price-related cursing not seen since the 1979 energy crisis sparked a nationwide obscenity boom

Profanity in the article from the Onion... My guess is that nothing major is going to happen to gas prices. I think the oil interests are so smart to drive up the price so people freak out & then back it down so it doesn't seem as bad - while it is still ridiculously high. The minor drop in prices seems to mitigate the freak out (whew...we're out of the $4 range) which I thought might actually trigger something getting done with alternative energy. Starting to think that nothing is really going to change.

We are fast becoming a society of statues. A curious species who seem to have our collective asses permanently attached to a chair. Or preferably, a couch. We discovered that within a few years many of us will have identical movement patterns and daily activity levels to that of the oak tree. Yep, it appears that many of us have become fat (seated) spectators in the game of life. Heavy sigh. Fat sigh. Moving towards ...
