Online Accounting: State of the Market (24)
on
ReadWriteWeb (3696) permalink
Accounting software for small business and personal use is increasingly moving from the desktop to online. However, compared to other office software, this transition to online has been relatively slow. Partly that's due to user reticence: writing a document online and sharing it with others (via Google Docs, Office Live, Zoho, or whatever you use) is one thing. Entering sensitive financial information into your browser is harder to adjust to. There are also technical complications ...Shared by _dot_ (0) Abdul Jaleel (28) AJ (189) Carl (2) Chris Gurney (9) elsterama (40) Farzin (37) Fenng (46) GP (36) Hagen (5) Hisham (23) iAlja (30) joamag (5) jon bradford (16) JonMoss-theappleofmyi (30) Jurr (0) kan65535 (7) lkratz (21) Melissa Attree, GetOn eMarketing (16) Mike F (459) pepitogrilho (12) Rob (132) Shyam (6) Sid (19)Contribute comment -

As some commenters to the price drop news have already noticed, some retailers are already selling the XP version of the Acer Aspire One netbook for the new $349 price, which is $50 less than it was prior. Students Don’t Need Amazon Kindles. They’ve Got Laptops! (17)

I love books. They’re second to music in importance so far as media in my life is concerned. But I like the physical variety. Ebooks don’t appeal, and I’ll tolerate an audiobook now and again only when I’m on the go. Yet, when I read earlier this year that Amazon was rumored to be developing a new Amazon Kindle device tailored specifically for textbooks, according to Andrea James of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, I thought that ...Shared by AJ (189) Carl (2) CogDog (19) Cory (1) DOCBook Howto (116) Gauravonomics (40) GeniusBoyWonder (27) Javed (119) Joe (6) Josh Chandler (4) Mike F (459) Morton Fox (76) Rex (152) Rob (132) Sean (12) shark (17) Zaki (58)- DOCBook Howto said: amen! - Sean said: I disagree with this. I think that the market for ebook versions of textbooks is there. It could save money over buying paper books over four years of college. If Amazon can improve the annotation and page numbering features in this version (real page numbers will be essential) then I think they will have a real winner on their hands. Even if they just grab a small slice of the textbook market it should turn out to be a good deal for them. (IMHO)

If you liked Johnny Chung Lee's Wii headtracking tricks you will love iHologram, a stunning iPhone app that makes the screen look like a window to a real, parallel dimension.
