At Google, we have a saying: “launch early and iterate.” While this approach is usually limited to our engineers, it apparently applies to our mailroom as well! As you may have read in the blogosphere, we hit "send" a bit early on a comic book introducing our new open source browser, Google Chrome. We will be launching the beta version of Google Chrome tomorrow in more than 100 countries. So why are we launching Google Chrome? ...Shared by [BLT]FQX (66) Aaron (15) aaron (126) Aaron (2) Aaron (6) Abhishek (9) Adam (18) Adam Fuhrer (85) Aelle (51) afroginthevalley (14) Akeem Williams (14) Alan Dean (55) Alberto (23) Alex (20) Alex (8) Alex France (140) Alexander13 (493) Alexandru Burciu (25) alfred westerveld (32) Amir (18) Amish Schulze (21) andrea (21) Andrew (48) Andrew Girdwood (33) Andrew Hughes (32) Andrew Schott (83) Andrew Terry (30) Andrew Walkingshaw (14) Andrey (4) andy bons (7) Angus (43) ani625 (102) Antoine (36) Antoine van Dinter (14) Anurag (23) Appu (24) Aren Grimshaw (2) Atilano (17) atomantic (5) atul (96) azin (13) b (73) Babychen Mathew (388) Ben (5) Ben (12) Berker (9) Bill (8) Bill de hÓra (7) bkim (27) blogan (16) Bob Hazlett (12) Bob Lee (16) bombox (6) Borchers (9) Brajeshwar (23) Brettsky (10) Brian (34) Brian (27) Brian Auer (30) Brian Daniel Eisenberg (11) Brian Landau (20) Bridget (14) Bryan (19) Bryan (8) Bryan Hughes (4) C.K. - Chris said: So many questions! With its whizzy new V8 JS engine, will Google sites (Maps etc) begin to demand Google Chrome for 'premium' features? Will it support the huge library of Mozilla plugins? (No way I can switch camps without Rikaichan for Japanese translation). And can we trust Google not to mine our data to serve ads (well, more than they do already)? Either way, very interesting times ahead!

Pitfalls to Avoid When Designing Forms (55)

Many web forms are broken, usability-wise. Knowing these problems can make you avoid them when you design your own web forms, so here are some recurring usability pitfalls. 1. The risky reset button. In most instances, the form reset button is not needed, though it can almost always do harm if users accidentally click it – because it will empty the form without any confirmation box (in popular browsers and popular form implementations, anyway). We knew the web was big... (162)

We've known it for a long time: the web is big. The first Google index in 1998 already had 26 million pages, and by 2000 the Google index reached the one billion mark. Over the last eight years, we've seen a lot of big numbers about how much content is really out there. Recently, even our search engineers stopped in awe about just how big the web is these days -- when our systems that ...
