High-tech Gyrobike May Make Training Wheels Obsolete (3)

We recently took a look at different methods parents use to teach their kids how to ride bikes. We looked at everything from trailer bikes to taking off pedals. But there was one more approach that we wanted to consider. It wasn't included in the original post for several reasons: first, it's not available yet, so it didn't belong with the other options we evaluated. Second, it's so unique that it deserves its own post ...Contribute comment -

Facebook Live Feed Kills Twitter & FriendFeed (Nick O'Neill/All Facebook) (13)

Techmeme (1018) permalink
Nick O'Neill / All Facebook: Facebook Live Feed Kills Twitter & FriendFeed — Yes, I love calling Facebook the Twitter and FriendFeed killer but I seriously think they may have one-upped the competition on their latest release: the Live Feed. You can sit and watch in real-time what is taking place with your friends across their profiles in an unfiltered manner.Shared by Aaron (9) Dave (11) David (61) DOCBook Howto (126) Ed (8) Forrest (21) gadgetboy (9) Jeremy (92) Jonathan (6) Jonathon Juvenal (12) nkronberg (52) Parker (13) toddkitta (5)- Forrest said: I actually think there's room for both in the digilife - friendfeed is an information service that's name sort of belies its purpose. My friends and I keep in touch largely though facebook, but I use friendfeed to track the streams of people with whom I may never have a personal relationship, but who's intellectual and experiential information I still find compelling. It's entirely possible that people older than myself will find friendfeed's innate simplicity and lack of clutter appealing - facebook can be a bit much if you're not into everything it offers. Either way, the competition between feed providers, just as with browsers and other applications, benefits us as users. I'm all for it.
- toddkitta said: I completely agree. The live feed is awesome. The only reason I will continue to use Twitter/FriendFeed is for the interesting community.

The whole reason why you spend time streamlining, automating, and speeding up your workflow isn't to work more—it's to make time for important things computers can't do, like thinking.
