Google Chrome Will Support Add-Ons, User Scripts [Google Chrome] (30)

Lifehacker (11930) permalink
InformationWeek confirms that Google Chrome will have add-ons, a move that could have an enormous impact on Chrome's viability among the power users and early adopters in the Firefox camp. In addition to regular extensions, Chrome will also support scripts à la Greasemonkey: "There's two different kinds of add-ons," [Google engineer Ojan] Vafai said. "The Firefox things extend your browser, so to speak, and then there are user scripts. We intend to do both of ...Shared by (jeff)isageek (17) afahy (21) Andrew Stillman (1) Angelo (16) aran (27) Armando (0) Azeem (20) Chimpadink (21) Darkick (18) Derek (17) Derivadow (15) Dirk Schrama (19) Dylan Bennett (27) emaynard (1) Erik C. Codeweavers, those cross-system wizards behind Wine, have shown off their prowess by releasing a version of Google’s Chrome to Mac and Linux ahead of Google’s own attempts. The browser, labeled Crossover Chromium, is pulled straight from the open source code. Of course, these versions are built on modified versions of Wine, and are, in Codeweaver’s words, “just a proof of concept, for fun, and to showcase what Wine can do.” So a bunch of Wine ...Contribute comment -

I remember the time when I applied my passport back in 1999. There was a long application process, waiting process, and the verification process. This would take anywhere between 20 days to 1 month. Did I mention there was a lot of red tape involved in that? I really did not see what the fuss was all about for printing a 20 odd page book with a blue cover. That was like 9 years ago ...- Tarun Jain said: I think I will wait for this before getting my long due passport renewal done :)

Since everyone seems to be determined to cover Google’s newly-launched Chrome browser on every side, I have decided to join in after I’ve been playing with the browser for a few days and reading literally hundreds of posts about it everywhere. This post is intended to demystify Google’s browser a little and show that some of the hype around it is merely about Google actually launching a browser instead of the innovative approaches implemented in ...Shared by AKs (4) Alex (119) Alex Dumitru (288) Ananya Walia (438) Ann Smarty (19) Anoop (37) Benjamin (459) Bill Hartzer (94) Brian (4) chris (323) Clement (59) Daily Contempt (0) Danielle Brigida (84) Daver (48) Denis Gobo (27) Dimitar D (21) Douglas L.
