Today, Google is releasing the names of its second set of winners, 10 of which receive $275,000 and 10 of which receive $100,000. The full list of winners can be found here. ...

Yahoo's wildly popular photo sharing site Flickr is a lot of fun to use, but it really helps to take some time and learn how to use it well. We've recently engaged more seriously with Flickr and wanted to share some quick tips that we think will help you get more out of it, too. Some people want to know how to do marketing on Flickr or use Flickr in nonprofit organizations, but in this ...

Filed under: FordClick above for high-res gallery of 2010 Ford Mustang badge The countdown to the 2010 Ford Mustang debut has begun, and it looks like Ford can't wait to show us what the car looks like just as much as we can't wait to see it. Today it released an image of the new 2010 Mustang badge, hinting that its edgier design gives clues as to what the rest of the car will look ...

The iPhone 3G's camera works alright until you want to grab a shot of something within a foot or so (like a butterfly, or unpopped pimple). And to address this dilemma, one modder softened the glue holding in his iPhone's camera and rotated the lens to macrofy the fovus. He was able to take several shots within 5 inches, but the most impressive is this picture taken just .25 inches away from its subject. For ...

Remember when MySpace announced it had 100 million users, exactly two years ago? It was a big deal, but critics pointed out that many of those user accounts were inactive, and active users are what really counts. Facebook, on the other hand, has always claimed they don’t sugarcoat their user numbers; they only count active accounts. If you choose to believe them, then today’s unofficial announcement - taken from Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook status update - ...

Images from around the web are showing the HTC Dream AKA the T-Mobile G1 in all its bendy, screen-sliding glory. This Sidekick-like phone has a pop up screen, full QWERTY keyboard, and none of the buckets of suck that characterize Windows Mobile phones. Android is still fairly nascent so I worry that the application environment

Valleywag spies were busy last weekend. "I was at a party in Palo Alto on Saturday night two doors down from Steve Jobs's house, and in the morning i was coming out with my bike and walked right in front of him on the sidewalk," writes one. How'd he look? "Pretty thin. I thought his face looked healthy, but he was very thin." If Jobs's parking habits are any indication, though, perhaps the Apple CEO ...

There are quite a few Adobe AIR applications on the Web right now that allow you to monitor your FriendFeed. The most commons ones that you may know about are Alert Thingy, Twhirl, Posty, and bTT by Sobees but now we have Feedalizr to add to the list. Among all of the FriendFeed applications I have tested out, Feedalizr is definitely one of the coolest and most unique. It allows you to post updates to ...

There has been a lot of brouhaha over Ma.gnolia going open source and I’m not sure most of it is justified. There are certainly features that work to Ma.gnolia’s advantage, but even though embracing open source and data portability (among other features) improve the service, they are unlikely to make it competitive. Not only is Ma.gnolia minuscule compared to Yahoo’s Delicious (recently relaunched to version 2.0), but compared to Yahoo’s Buzz and Digg, even Delicious ...

Mixi, the giant Japanese social network, announced last week that it is now acting as an OpenID authenticating party. The implementation is particularly sophisticated, SixApart's David Recordon says they are the first major provider to support the exchange of user profile data via OpenID. The service is also providing a mechanism for users of 3rd party sites to limit access to content elsewhere to visitors who are their friends on Mixi. All of it begs ...
