When I see my son playing online computer games I am worried! I am worried not because he spends too much time in front of a computer - it is the abundance of security issues that surround contemporary online gaming that makes me uneasy. I just had to do something about that. So what I have tried to do is list the security problems related to online games and humbly suggest some possible solutions. At a time when more and more digital technologies are becoming indispensable to millions of people, the field of computer science (CS) is in trouble. Enrollment and retention of CS students, particularly those historically underrepresented in the field (women, African-Americans, Native-Americans, and Hispanics) has declined sharply. According to the Computing Research Association, CS enrollment in the U.S. was at its peak in 2000, with 15,958 undergrads. By 2006, enrollment declined by roughly half: 7,798 undergrads. ...Shared by Abhishek (8) Adi (14) Alex (8) Angus (43) Chris (1) Compuwizard123 (34) Dr. Ernie (59) Eater (20) giro (10) gisc (24) gizmo (23) Goulu (20) Jeremy (4) Landon (13) Lido (5) macshaggy (6) mercerch (6) Mojtaba (17) mucahit (11) Nikki (67) Nirav (28) pala (20) Pradeep (2) Sammy (1) Yusuf (3) YuSuPh (5) Zoram (20)Explore read four notesContribute comment -

One of the issues that we’ve been highlighting at our recent conference presentations and blogs was the emergence of major localized threats around Asia. McAfee Avert Labs discovered yet another unidentified vulnerability in the Japanese word processor , Ichitaro, last Friday. This Japanese application have been known to be under the targeted attacks for several years and a few 0-day vulnerabilities were discovered and exploited in the past. Other than Ichitaro, other popular and localized ...Shared by Chris (1)Contribute comment -

We received a sample recently from a customer. Its file name, ToolbarSetup.exe, implies it may be toolbar installer. Upon execution, it displays the eBay toolbar EULA and the installation interface. And this program does indeed install the eBay toolbar. However, something grabbed my attention during the installation. Besides the 2ebaytoolbarsetup.exe process, the program also created the wscript.exe process and ran .vbs files–that is not common for the toolbar installation. So I looked into every file ...Shared by Bill Hartzer (57) Chris (1)Contribute comment -

Earlier this summer, I heard from Anne Lagacé Dowson, a 20-year veteran of CBC Radio who had quit her post to run for the New Democratic Party in a by-election in the Quebec riding of Westmount-Ville-Marie. I've known Anne all my life (literally -- she was my babysitter when I was an infant) and so I was glad to hear that she was doing this amazing thing, but I was even more delighted when she ...Contribute comment - Spouting permutation and combination theory when playing cards is useless.
