Although language relies on certain rules, a story requires more than simple definitions to unfold. Look at this example to see how a simple sentence can be rewritten word by word to turn into a whole paragraph. Certainly this is not art and it contains a considerable amount of redundant and superficial information. However, its creation did require imagination. The thing is, whether you’re writing a diary, a blog or a column for a magazine, ...

Smart Defrag can then either defragment the disks ...

Has everyone forgotten that we didnt trade in last year’s bankers for a new team. The bankers that we hope will reflate the economy with loans to the people and companies who need it ARE THE SAME BANKERS THAT GOT ...

Windows only: Free application Iron is a slightly modified version of the Chromium source of Google Chrome that removes components of Chrome that report your usage habits to Google. In practice, that means it removes your unique user ID, doesn't send user-specific info to Google, skips crash reporting, and doesn't check with Google for updates. Some features—like crash reporting and update checks—are built into most browsers anyway, but if you're already squeamish with the amount ...

No matter how hard Apple strives to make Microsoft look uncool, one fact remains: Microsoft owns the desktop. No matter what you do or where you go, somewhere or another, you're working with Windows. So when you hear that Microsoft will strip built-in email, photo editing, and movie making programs from Windows 7, you have to wonder: What's Microsoft giving you out of the box besides Internet Explorer, a web browser you're going to use ...

I say good riddance to most of the applications bundled in Windows. I still use Windows XP on one of my primary computers and any time I need to do a reinstall, I have to refuse obsolete apps like MSN Explorer and Windows Messenger. Microsoft should leave stuff like that out of the OS but make it easy to find and install their software from the Web when desired.

Parabolic surfaces are perfect for collecting errant wireless signals and focusing them, and the food strainer in your kitchen cabinet is a parabola waiting to do something other than hold pasta. Dan boost his signal enough to detect an additional 20 Wi-Fi hotspots using NetStumbler to sniff them out. If you'd ...
