More e-passports hacked within minutes, security questions abound (9)
on Engadget (3204) permalinkFiled under: Misc. GadgetsIt's downright frightening that we've become numb to this news, but here again we're faced with another report of e-passports being hacked within minutes. The University of Amsterdam's Jeroen van Beek was reportedly able to clone and manipulate a pair of British passports in about the time it takes you to sip down your first cup of joe in the morning, and worse still, they were accepted as genuine by the software ...Shared by Brian Ries (14) Ching (65) dmkinteractive (36) JDAL. Photos Emerge of Emirates A380 Showers: Tiny, But Luxurious [Showers] (4)
on Gizmodo (5328) permalinkSee that happy-looking lady in the pic? She's standing in an Emirates A380 in-flight shower room, details of which have emerged after we first alerted you to this airborne luxury. The "shower spas" are pretty decently kitted-out, and the aircraft carries an extra 1,100-pounds of water to allow every one of the 14 first-class passengers to have a splash. As a result, the shower only runs for five minutes, and there's a traffic-light system to ...

iPhone 3G Unlocked? (4)
on On the iPhone (0) permalinkSo I read this on gizmodo. Here's the truth...Post beta 4, the ramdisk hack stopped working. Sorry Zibri, guess you'll have to steal another exploit. They also changed the recovery mode USB protocol to use the control endpoint to send commands. The possiblity of unlocking, which is very distinct from jailbreaking, is based entirely on the baseband bootloader. Apple doesn't appear to upgrade the bootloader on phones in the field, probably for fear of breaks. ...Contribute comment
