Rather than making an iPhone app, Flickr has tweaked its mobile site to better fit the iPhone screen's dimensions—and to a pretty solid effect. All activities and controls you need to use are readily available, photos are automatically scaled to fit the screen and you can load pages without needing to refresh Safari. Since Adobe Flash-support is still a ways off, there's really no way to view slideshows or videos. Still, Flickr's got two thumbs ...

When the iPhone was first released, there was an abundance of speculation over whether the phone’s lack of Flash support would cripple its browser and give us something less than “the real web” that Apple had promised. At the time, Steve Jobs explained that the full version of Flash wouldn’t run well on the iPhone (the iPhone runs on an ARM11 chip, which doesn’t play nice with Flash), but that Adobe’s Mobile Flash was lacking ...

Filed under: GPS, Transportation We've seen some pretty extreme cases of excessive faith in GPS, but this may well be the first instance of the ill-advised practice nearly exactly repeating itself. As you may recall, earlier this year a Bedford Hills, New York man trusted his GPS so much that he apparently thought it was perfectly reasonable to follow the directions directly onto a set of train tracks. That didn't exactly work out so well, ...

After Facebook released v1.1 of their iPhone application, they promised that a bigger, badder v2.0 was in the works for September. They cut it pretty close, but they’ve kept their word. Just a few hours ago, the second major release of the Facebook application hit the App Store, bearing a whole new user interface and a slew of fresh features. With this latest release, they’ve managed to pack just about everything Facebook has to offer ...

Last.FM has finally released the highly anticipated update to their iPhone application. Initial App Store reviews for the debut of the Last.FM app weren't very high. The app is currently rated at three stars, compared to its competitor Pandora's five star app. However, we think this update to the Last.FM app is incredible and will probably improve its ratings. Here's a hands-on review of the latest update to the Last.FM app. Major Improvements Yesterday evening ...

If you're a 13-year-old boy or just someone with the maturity level of a 13-year-old boy, you'll love this breast-related mouse and mouse pad combo. The mouse features a couple of boobs as buttons, while the mouse pad uses boobs as a wrist rest. For $38, it's probably the only way you're ever going to get your hands on two pairs of breasts at the same time, with the added bonus of people feeling sorry ...

Just about a month ago we wrote about a principal losing a lawsuit against some students for posting a fake MySpace page pretending to be the principal. However, in a different case, a court has ruled that a school has every right to suspend students for creating a fake MySpace page of a principal. The two cases are different in a few ways, as the first one involved the principal suing the student, rather than ...

High voltage electrics plus risk of sparky, smoky death plus humorous engineer equals excellent warning sign. I'd keep well away, after reading that. Though I do remember an old girlfriend's dad once pinned a freakishly similar note (substituting the odd "I will" into the text) to his daughter's bedroom door, and pointedly drew my attention to it. Whaaat? John Hodgman, that PC guy from those Apple commercials, was spotted on the train with an iPhone. A voice of dissension from the Apple party for years, it's a blow to PC users everywhere to see him caving to the casual cool hoodies of Justin Long. That's good, Hodgman. Keep your daughter turned away. Don't let her watch as a grown man abandons everything he believes in. [ISO50]

According to numerous reports, Microsoft has decided to cancel its controversial series of ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates after releasing only two ads. When the first ad was released, the reviews were mostly negative, though some commentators, including our own Sarah Perez, thought it was a good effort on behalf of Microsoft to enhance its brand. However, it seems Microsoft didn't think so itself and is now trying to salvage what is left ...

AT&T is figuring out options for linking U-Verse to the iPhone, and plans on eventually introducing services that'll meld the two into an all encompassing home theater system. Features being developed include using the phone as a remote control, listening to voicemail on TV, downloading shows from DVRs onto iPhones and virtually hurling tomatoes at the screen. Is it weird that the last feature is the one I'm most excited about? [Reuters]
