Identi.ca Implements Twitter API - ReadWriteWeb (48)
on ReadWriteWeb (6491) permalinkWhen we first reported about the new microblogging service Identi.ca earlier this month, it looked like an interesting experiment. Since then, its community has grown rapidly and today, it implemented an API that is compatible with the Twitter API. Thanks to this, any application that connects to Twitter can now also work with Identi.ca by simply pointing to identi.ca/api instead of twitter.com. Dave Winer tested the new API yesterday and reports that everything worked perfectly ...Shared by Aaron (31) Adrien O'Leary (54) AJ (1214) andré.friedrichs (893) BillDeys (63) Bob Goyetche (31) bounder (34) Brit (176) Bwana (250) Carlos (28) Chris Fizik (33) Chris Nixon (120) Corvida (509) cvander (54) dasmart (71) dd (53) Edo (136) ehu4ever (532) George (16) handir (194) hank (19) Henk-Jan van der Klis (22) hurstel (10) Jeffrey Blais (170) Josh (113) jschultz (43) KC (30) kenmat (69) Kenneth (63) LouCypher (404) louisgray (701) Mao Yu (83) marcell (97) martian (21) Mudiam (7) pF (15) Pittaya (14) Rex (839) Rob (378) Ruben (127) Sanns (45) sarahintampa (386) tig (155) walkah (14) wAsh (40) William Spaetzel (77) YuSuPh (176) Zaki (218)

Dev Blog: Theme Directory (3)
on WordPress Planet (72) permalinkIt’s been a long time since themes.wordpress.net stopped accepting new themes. Since then most theme authors have been distributing their themes from their own sites, without a good centralized place for people to browse, search, comment on, and rate themes. With the success of the plugins directory, we’ve wanted to have those same benefits in a theme directory. Today is the day we start making that happen, with the introduction of wordpress.org/extend/themes/. Bringing the new ...Contribute comment

U2 in the studio (2)
on BBC News | Entertainment | Full Feed (16) permalinkGrammy award-winning producer Steve Lillywhite was the man behind the mixing desk for U2's first three albums. Along the way, the band transformed from cocky Irish upstarts into bona fide rock stars, eventually reaching number one with 1983's War. As the band release re-mastered versions of those early recordings, complete with bonus tracks and new artwork, Lillywhite recalls the tension, tedium and inspirations behind the recording sessions.BOY (1980)U2's first album was recorded when the band ...Shared by Chris Nixon (120) Scott (165)Contribute comment

Trailer For Heroes Season 3 (4)
on The Movie Blog (194) permalinkNow this is more like it. This looks freaking amazing! Heroes season 2 was a disappointment to me and most other fans, and when we had Milo Ventimiglia (Peter on the show) on Uncut Live a few months back, he acknowledged that the shows producers admit they dropped the ball and vowed to make up for it with this 3rd season. Holy bloody spit balls it looks like they’re doing it. I know this isn’t ...Contribute comment

Spiffing Your Lids: How to Clean your Baseball Cap (3)
permalinkHey, you...got a ballcap? Silly question, I know. Geeks seem to accumulate ballcaps the way that space under the bed accumulates dust mice -- caps from work, caps from gear manufacturers, caps from geeky conferences or events, and on and on and on. After time, the caps are about as attractive as the dust, too. Sweat, grease, garden dirt and all manner of assorted grime accumulates on caps from, it sometimes, seems, out of nowhere. ...

21 Ways to Make Your Blog or Website Sticky (90)

How to automatically/automagically geotag your photos (using Open Source stuffs) (1)

Somewhat naively I had assumed that a solution for automatically tagging photos as you took them already existed, but it doesn’t (as far as I can tell). ATTIGO TT - The Touchscreen Turntable (2)
permalinkThink the DS scratching is cool? See this… The ATTIGO TT was created by Scott Hobbs, a student at Dundee University studying innovative product design. For his final year project he’s created a touch screen turntable that lets DJ’s loop, sample and scratch wave forms just as you would a record. The size of the touchtable is approximately the same as a standard turntable, making the physical interaction nearly the same. via. @ haha.nu.Shared by Chris (47) Chris Nixon (120)Contribute comment
