on
Being Peter Kim (98) permalink
I've been thinking about how social media works. For example, applying game mechanics to understand participation, thinking about users vs. customers, and deconstructing ego traps in PR campaigns. This analysis makes me wonder if social media marketing matters and if so, does it scale. I thought you might benefit from some of my background research on these topics. And I'd appreciate your help in curating this list by providing more details and submitting additional cases. ...Shared by Aaron Bramley (1) Adam (8) andrew (1) Anne Manning (2) Anthony Garcia (13) Anton Johansson (53) Ariadne Gomes (6) Augie Ray (1) Badger Gravling (56) Bjoern (27) Brian Evans (5) Brian Fuller (5) Bryon Thomas (7) Cathryn Hrudicka (14) cgranier (11) Chris (15) chrisbrogan.com (24) Christopher (65) crgt (5) Dan (12) Dave Duarte (3) Dawn Hepper (2) Dora (9) Drew McLellan (2) Ed Wohlfahrt (1) elisabete (3) Ellie Lovell (14) Emily Sandberg (22) etorsten (9) francois gossieaux (2) Gavin Heaton (2) Gökmen (1) Greg (17) James Cherkoff (10) James Rice (4) jamiep77 (2) janequigley (13) Jeff Beringer (3) jeffglasson (11) jgodoy (5) John Bell (10) johnhopkins (2) jordi ruiz (18) Jose Viveiros (3) Kami Huyse (6) Ken Burbary (5) Kevin Sablan (32) Lars Wehmeyer (9) Lauren (2) Lee Odden (3) Leif Hansen (2) Luca Conti (14) Luis Suarez (24) Maksim Berjoza (24) Marc Nathan (15) Marcos (9) Mark Dykeman (28) Matt (2) Matt Moore (3) Meg Roberts (24) Michael Brito (1) Mike F (459) Nick Ayres (2) Nicolas (2) Organized Media (3) p0ps (34) Panos (4) Patricia Skinner (24) Paul McKeon (1) pflix (6) Rob (5) Rob van Alphen (21) Rocky Fu (5) Ron (3) samuel (16) sarah r (1) soupireland (5) stargratrix (5) straylight (9) Susan Getgood (1) SuzyiMac (8) tigertwo (4) Tom Andrus (3) Trevor Young (7) Victor (22) warren sukernek (37) Wes Thorp (4)Contribute comment - 960 Grid System (1)

Last week we asked you for your big tech ideas—the software and products you don't have right now but would love to someday—and as usual, you didn't disappoint. Tons of interesting product proposals came out of the fantastic comment thread that ensued, as well as a few "somebody already thought of that, here it is" pointers. We've pared down the list to some of the most impressive standouts to highlight here today. That is, there will be a way for me to know if I am willing to ride with you and vice versa. My phone or my GPS tracks my morning commute, computes my typical route(s), with start, end, timeframe. I can submit the routes to the site, accept bids to give or take a ride on that route. Payment can be in miles or cash, accounts will be maintained by the service. When I'm a driver, the site tracks my position via my cell phone, notifies riders when I am 10 minutes away. The notice is a text message, it includes a codeword that both driver an rider must know to confirm identity. Insurance coverage, rider and driver feedback, missed pickup charges, dynamic transfers, etc would need to be worked out.
