A Brazilian artist named Vivian Caccuri has put together an installation that uses the movements of live fish to remix the music played on an MP3 player. These fish are tracked using a proximity sensor and their activities trigger adjustments in processing levels, distortion and speaker fade to create a unique sound. Sure, it is about as pointless as snails being used to send email, but it is definitely relaxing to watch. [Vivian Caccuri via ...

Reader skarhead187 has submitted several desktops to the Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell pool, and the thing that always stands out most—aside from a great eye for minimalism—is that despite using popular dock application ObjectDock, most of his desktops don't show any icons or branding. Keep reading for a look at a few more of skarhead187's desktops and to hear why he likes "genderless, organic desktops": Windows needs a global menu; OS X has it, ...

YouTube is adding full-length content from the CBS network, Advertising Age reports. For instance, MacGyver and episodes from the original Star Trek are supposed to be part of the mix. Visiting the CBS YouTube channel and clicking through to a video here in Germany, all I get is the increasingly more frequent message “This video is not available in your country.” CBS content on a Google property is not new, in fact, this is a ...

Next2Friends has released the first live video streaming client for newer Blackberry phones, like the Curve and the Pearl. Similar to Qik or Justin TV, you download the Next2Friends client to your phone, and it streams to the internet whatever your camera records. Qik has been around on the N95 for so long now that I kinda figured similar services had made their way onto to the Blackberry. I was wrong. In any case the ...

Windows only: Free application FastCopy is a portable replacement for the standard Windows Explorer file copying mechanism. FastCopy's interface is rather cluttered but the file transfer speeds are fantastic. Copying ISO files, thousands of pictures, and other test files was extremely fast. You can opt to not overwrite, overwrite by newest or biggest file, and sync when transferring files with FastCopy. We've covered another popular file copier replacement here before, TeraCopy, and you might be ...

Kingston has dropped a 32GB version of its DataTraveler USB drive, which could be a worthy addition to your gizmo collection if you own a netbook with limited storage (say, like the EeePC). The pocket-sized dongle measures at 3.06 inches x 0.9 inches x 0.47 inches and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. The estimated retail price is $139, but you can get one off Newegg for $80 right now—that's roughly $2.22 per GB. ...

Everybody knows that no real bachelor pad is complete without a pool table, but if you want f@$#ing awesome bachelor pad status, you gotta have it rise from the floor James Bond-style. This ridiculous mod uses a side-sliding trap door in the floor and a hydraulic lift to make a pool table appear where there was none before. Wooooweee, is that your pool cue or are you just happy to see me? [Ballerhouse -Thanks A.J.!]

Now that the 800 billion boondoggle of a financial market/pork package is a bust, the question is; Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Frank, Mr. Bush and Mr. Paulson, where's my money and how do we get it back? Why does Paulson still have a job, and why haven't our leaders stepped down for their incompetence? Enough is enough! One more thing...NO MORE BAILOUT MONEY!

Parents! Are you looking for a way to make sure your teenagers are safe while they drive? Also, are annoyed while they drive? Well Ford has your back. Its new MyKey system is sure to make driving an infuriatingly annoying ordeal. When enabled, MyKey can cap the top speed of the car to 80MPH. That's not too bad, really. But it can also chime whenever the car reaches 45MPH, 55MPH and 65MPH, apparently to "alert ...

Windows/Linux: Picasa, Google's photo management tool, has quietly announced a new beta that adds basic movie editing, fuller syncing to Web Albums, and many other features and changes. Actually, the biggest change in the new Picasa isn't in the software itself—it's a new "quick view" utility, which replaces the basic double-click viewing tool in Windows with a Picasa-friendly, drop-cloth-style window. Five new collage styles have also been added to the offerings, and Picasa's new "Move ...

Google has rolled out their new interface design to the last of the Google Docs trio, Spreadsheets (presentations and Documents already had this new style). The tabs are replaced by an application menu. Google had announced this change last week; in the announcement they said that these changes would also allow them to have room to add more features and that users should “Stay tuned.” [Thanks Hebbet and Avrohom Eliezer Friedman!] [By Philipp Lenssen | ...

Like a Ronco rotisserie or the perfect politician, you can set this non Stop Top and forget it, because it never stops spinning. Well, it never stops until it runs out of battery juice, which takes about eight hours. Mileage for pols or rotisseries is probably much more than that. It's a cool, shiny top, however, even if they don't really go into detail about the inner workings that keep it spinning for so long. ...
