The last ten years has seen the resurrection of legendary auto brands like the Maybach, Bugatti, Healey, Mini and recently announced Alpine car brand. Tatra Motors, the third oldest car company on the planet behind Daimler Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot was the inspiration for this new concept design by Czech magazine AutoDesign&Styling. They asked designer Mike Jelinek to create this concept vision of the Tatra of the future. The result is the 903 Concept, a fuel ...

Just posted: our in-depth review of the Pentax K20D. The K20D is a fully-featured semi-pro DSLR available for the cost of some of the latest, upper-entry-level digital cameras. It adds a handful of features and tweaks to the highly-respected K10D and attempts to address some of its shortcomings whilst also incorporating a colossal 14.6 million photosites on a sensor co-developed with Samsung. Is this enough, given the quality of some of the competitors?

I thought I’d seen some awful electronic gadgets in my travels, but this has got to be the worst one that I’ve seen in a long time. Somebody must have thought this thing would be cute, but this “dog doll” MP3 player turned out hideous and disturbing. Not only does it look nothing like a dog, it seems incredibly impractical as a music player thanks to its strange lumpy (yet fuzzy) shape. Unless you think ...

Definitivamente, a temperatura ...

In an effort to revitalize the La Défense neighborhood of Paris, this winning design by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, was selected over dozens of other firms. This 71 floor tower will include office, hotel, residential and retail spaces. Heralded as “sustainable architecture”, this design is basically made up of four blocks piled one on top of the other with atriums forming huge windows, each facing in alternate directions. These atriums, though beautiful in their design are ...

With all the Apple fakes being tossed around the internet in the hours leading up to WWDC, how can us unassuming consumers figure out what's real and what's not? Luckily, Scientific American has got our backs with several ways photo editing masters spot a fake photo. The first thing to look for is lighting, an always difficult element for fakers to get right. Shopped photos usually have light-source directions that don't match. For instance, in ...

Interactive NY Times graphic. See it in action. According to “You need this to get a job in journalism,” multimedia experience is becoming increasingly important in newsrooms. Journalists who can flourish in both the Web newsroom and the print newsroom today: • Can package the news online. • Can create original multimedia. • Have solid journalism credentials. • Have strong technical skills. Journalists who expect to get a job will “walk in the door with”: ...

Completely unrelated to 37 Signals comments, I'm more interested in the graphic itself. It's pretty amazing to look at the divides here. Age, race, sex, and education were all pretty big factors in this race. And if there is one truth to be found here is that the state of West Virginia doesn't like Obama no matter how you slice it.

We're with Peter: Human beings were not meant to sit in little cubicles staring at computer screens all day, filling out useless forms and listening to eight different bosses drone on about about mission statements. Sure, Firefox 3 is the bee's knees (and has been since Beta 3), but will it go down history books? It will if it sets a world record! Mozilla's taking the quick and easy path to everlasting glory (until someone beats it anyway) by planning to set the world record for most software downloads in 24 hours on Firefox 3's official launch day. The exact day isn't posted, but it'll be sometime next month. I ...

During their interview last night at All Things D, Walt Mossberg called Steve Ballmer the "maestro of the whiteboard" and presented him with a fresh one to draw whatever he wanted (or maybe explain Yahoo, whatever). You're looking at the finished product. What the hell is it? Our own Mark Wilson: "How babies are made." Can you do better?
